Friendly Forest Frolicking

The smell of damp vegetation was thick in the air as Leleia tromped through the undergrowth of Fie Forest. People had warned her the forest was a dangerous place, that it was loaded with mines and traps and other such nonsense. ‘Fuggin idiots, who puts mines in a forest, that’s what mountains are for… unless they meant the exploding kind of mines?’ She shrugs. People in Anrui were weird.

After carefully avoiding some piles of leaves with metal bits poking out of them and some out of place roots that looked suspiciously like ropes, Leleia found the most wonderous thing tucked in a hollow of an old tree. A bunch of fuggin food! It was mostly lame, dried stuff like jerky, but it was free! She smiles widely as she stuffs a bunch of it into her pack, better securing the egg in there to prevent it from moving as much, “Aww hell yiss. Gonna avoid starvation for at least a couple more weeks with this shit right here."

Taking a bite of her newly gained rations she continues her jaunt through the woods and, before too much longer gets the distinct impression of being watched. Quickly looking around she notices a brightly colored eye fixated on her and a rather ragged and fierce looking luxray attached to it. “OMFA that’s a heckin cutie right there.” After a brief moment of consideration, she moves cautiously towards it to try and pet it, doing her best to give off ‘chill and friendly’ vibes.

Chin-chi was laying low, eyes probing the surroundings and ears back. Behind him rested Zeus, eyes closed, arm bandaged up to hide it, and kind of dirty. Which was fine. They've spent many years mucking around in the wilderness, being easily mistaken for a homeless wildman at first glance when gazing at his master. Either way, the main thing to Chin-chi was that he was safe... and didn't reek. The first thing to be noticed though was the change in environment due to what were either human foot steps or human like footsteps. The Luxray tensed his back legs and watched as a cub came up and grabbed some food from their stock. His master was smart to keep it away from them, but at the same time, Chin-chi wouldn't attack a cub- unless they attacked him first. And besides, he recognized a few words the cub said, one of them being the starve part of starvation. Who was letting this human cub starve? He let the young one go though, and decided to step out and follow them. Zeus would be awoken from his slumber- but not make any noise, but rather focus on quietly getting up since Chin-chi hadn't woken him up with a roar or rough jostling. Chin-chi on the other hand, showed his teeth to this cub, scars on his face becoming more apparent that they happened in combat. His ears were flat, and his tail flicked, but the cub continued to approach him. She seemed peaceful thus far, and he let her get close.

As Lele approached the luxray it began to show their teeth and look defensive, she then noticed that their face was covered in scars, this cutie had clearly seen their fair share of fighting. The luxray didn’t seem to actually want to harm her though because it let her approach. Seeing this proud creature like this actually hurt her in a way she couldn’t quite put into words. Lele had always been told luxray were pack animals, but she didn’t see any others of its kind around, nor any trainers. It didn’t seem malnourished or anything though, so they were clearly doing ok for themselves.


Once she is close enough, Leleia offers some of her, newly acquired, meat ration to the luxray with one hand and tries to scratch behind its ear with the other. Assuming she is successful she’ll smile lightly, in a surprisingly somber fashion for the usually quite boisterous youth. “I’m not going to hurt you.” She looks around again, just in case she’d maybe over-looked some sleeping shinx under a bush or something, but finds nothing.  “You’re not out here all alone, are you? This place is like, crazy rough, but it looks like you’ve seen more than your fair share of rough too. You must be really good in a scrap. I wonder what your story is, friendo.”

Chin-chi didn't take the meat outright, but closed his jowls as the cub came closer to pet him. He allowed this, the touched ear flicking in response. Story? Alone? Very much no. Both of his ears suddenly sat upright, and his posture straightened. His eyes remained locked onto her as someone stepped up behind the cat from the cover. "It's a long story for sure." The man let out a large yawn, stretching the non-bandaged arm, leaving the other one tucked into a hoodie pocket. "Woken up for this old friend? Where'd this kid come from?" The Luxray would make a sort of low yowl and the man would just... nod like he understood what was being said. "No threat then? Good. Now-" The rugged man looked down at the girl, raising a scarred eyebrow in amusement. "Surprised you're still in one piece."

With the new voice behind her, the sentimental moment was over. Nearly falling over, she whirls around to look at the new comer. ‘Fuggin damn, he’s about as scarred as this Pokémon. Did I walk into some kind of forest themed emo recovery program? That would explain the salty and bland snacks.’

“Where’d I come from?” Lele looks back the way she came and points with the half-eaten jerky, “Just that way, there’s a path and everything.” She cocks her head to the side and raises an eyebrow back, “Should I not be in one piece?” her eyes travel between the scarred-up man and Pokémon, “Is that a requirement to be here or something?”


“Wait a fuggin second, I recognize your face!” She stops and squints at the man, “You… fuggin hell… you left a notice about wanting something somewhere and I ignored it. IDFK. Were you on TV or something?"

“Why are you out here and almost in one piece? This is a weird place to take a nap.” She pauses, considering, then mumbles, “Jk nm looks pretty comf actually ngl tbh fam."

Zeus reaches into Chin-chi's mane and starts roughly petting the Pokemon's neck, seeming to make him slightly less intense looking. He still looked like he'd maul the first thing that looked at him funny though. "Considering there's explosives in the ground here- I suppose I'd have at least known if you weren't in one piece." And by that logic- "Guess we didn't get the memo, friend." He joked, giving a wry grin as his Luxray huffed. "Hmmm." Zeus let out a thoughtful noise, resting his hand on the back of the Luxray's mane. He was wanted, he knew that much, and the scars on his face made it hard sometimes. Fuck it. "Yeah yeah. TV? I'm not so sure. But I do have a tendency to get on nerves." He was laughing about it, a small chuckle like pissing people off and being wanted by the government was a joke. "It was pretty comfortable, but I wouldn't suggest it without a Pokemon to watch your back. The wildlife here is much to interested in eating people..."

Leleia listens to the strange man speak, and ponders for a bit, “How did you get on TV for getting on people’s nerves? Lots of people say I do that. Might be something I can look into.”

She then looks overly anxious, much like a child that’s been caught with crumbs on their face and their hand in the cookie jar. “OMFA, I definitely couldn’t do that, then. 100% don’t have any of those, for sure. Having Pokémon is illegal and I definitely wouldn’t admit to doing something like that to someone who could be a Plasma member. Mystery men in the woods making mildly ominous and threatening remarks would probably be a bad idea too. I guess I’ll have to skip out on napping in the fuggin woods then.” She snaps her fingers.

She takes a bite of the jerky she found recently and shifts her backpack, that most assuredly did contain pokeballs and a pokemon egg, in a bid to change the subject. “So, uh, why is this place so full of traps and explosives anyway? Seems a bit over overkill for something like bug control. It's like whoever set them all up really doesn't want random people stumbling about in here.”

He raised his eyebrows at the child, smirking again at her rapid fire and lmost non sensical response. Well non to him at the very least. He shifted his weight onto another hip and tilted his head to the side, considering his Luxray. "Because people want other people dead in violent ways but without having to be around to witness it. It also lets them know something is out and about... though with these woods and Pokemon population. Who knows its not my problem." he shrugged, looking down the trail the girl had come down. He could shoo her off on his own and not deal with the risk of a weird child ratting him out but... if his wanted poster was still up, then people knew of him anyways. He stood there starijg down the path for a moment longer before huffing. "where were you going that made you walk through the wilds?"

Leleia’s eyes roll as the strange man explains the situation. “Ugh, but that doesn’t even make any fuggin sense. What’s the point in trying to kill someone if you can’t confirm they’ve died? Someone get’s blown up in one of these shitty traps there probably won’t even be anything left to wipe up after the wild mons get to them.”

She follows his eyes as he looks down the trail, then meets his gaze and smiles, “Oh! I was heading to Ansen Valley. Someone said they have a kick ass fuggin dance party out there and that seemed like more fun than the boring shit going on in Hyo, even if they do play dubstep. Cutting through this forest is the most direct way there.” This guy seemed kinda sussy, but not enough to lie to about where she was going or why she was there in the first place.

“What about you, mister? If we’re sharing stories, where are you headed that’s bringing you to these lovely, and explosive, woods?”

Zeus chuckled, shaking his head. "I couldn't tell you." His Luxray shakes off his mane, looking to the cub at her commentary on explosions. He had a fun history with those, so did his master. Strange how humans learned to explode like Voltorb... "Ah well- I don't suppose you've learned now that maybe this wasn't the best passage. Welp... nothing to be done about it now." She was already out here and somehow hadn't blown up in some tragic mis-step. "And me? I wander about. I do work here and there, bother people left and right. I was just walking around with my friend here to scout for some trouble... perhaps get into a fight or two. Ansen would be our next stop as well though." Naturally it was inbetween both major cities anyways. It'd only be natural for the middle of the region to be a good stopping point for anyone roaming around. "Couldn't resist a nap."
