MIYUKI UMEYAMA
THE Solitary POKEMON
AGE | GENDER | ALLEGIANCE | OCCUPATION |
Twenty-one | Trans-male | Neutral | Gardener |
APPEARANCE
miyuki is rather small for his age, the product of childhood neglect and little food. he stands at 5'0, just barely pushing past the bracket of being underweight. his skin is a soft porcelain color. he tends to keep a good majority of his skin covered, although he has no scars or blemishes hidden. if anything, he has three distinct freckles on the shell of his left ear. hair a striking light blue, soft in texture. his natural color is black, but his brother keeps it dyed. as often as he can. it reaches just a little bit past his ears, just barely touching his shoulder. it's got a small bit of wave to it, and he often keeps it looking nice. on good days, he keeps it up in a small ponytail. most notable about miyuki is the cloudy, opaque appearance of his eyes. his gaze is distant, always looking right through you.
accessory wise, miyuki keeps a few things on him. his extendable cane, a backpack full of necessities- typically he keeps things labelled with braille in case he's in a rush to grab something. his charm bracelet, which is full of random charms. butterfrees, lunatones, skittys. he... unfortunately has a tendency to get lost, so he is outfitted with plenty of things that make noise.

PERSONALITY
POSITIVE - serious - methodical - polished - selfless - imaginative NEGATIVE - secretive - obsessive - reclusive - abrasive - escapist | quiet and shy. miyuki was raised on a strict doctrine, rigid in it's system and traditional in it's ways. his parents personalities stuck with him, perhaps more than he would like. it led to a very serious disposition about him, always stone-faced despite whatever fear may be hidden behind his façade. he acts orderly, going nervous and antsy at the first sight of something being out of line. everything must be perfect. but in this, he grows obsessive in his nature. if it's not perfect, it has to be. and he will do anything to make sure it is. often he gets distracted if this is the case. his focus shifts, entirely on what is wrong until it is fixed, acting harshly until then. on a different side of the coin, miyuki is soft at heart. he is selfless, thinking of others before himself. after his incident, there was little that miyuki saw to himself except an extension of his brother. as he has spent most of his time secluded away, whether it be from the outside world or his family, miyuki's imagination is vast. it often runs wild, and he finds himself daydreaming most of the day away. to create another world, a perfect one within his own mind- that is simply all he desires. there is no desire, no drive to do most of his previous hobbies. he feels, often, more comfortable in the world he has crafted in his mind than the world around him. choosing to stay away from others, purposefully secluding himself and cutting ties with the world if he begins to feel stressed. which he often does. but he tries- to an extent. ...sometimes. he does enjoy going back to his old hobby. flower-pressing, he keeps a journal on him at all times. he finds that it brings him peace, even more so now. |
BACKGROUND
tw // minor mentions of child abuse, eye trauma??? brief transphobia
born in slateport city, as the first-born child of the ceo of umeyama industries, asahi umeyama. with his mother, masami, working as his secretary. his family life was rigid. everything was set, from the time that he was born to the unforseeable future. but a future was seen- his father had a goal. he had wanted an heir, and so he had gotten one.
miyuki was to be raised as such. with his life outlined from the start, there was little love between him and his parents. at least, that what was reciprocated. asahi and masami were of the serious sort, focused on putting their nose to the grindstone to raise an economical empire. as such, every action was slow and deliberate.
he was kept away from schools, only to be homeschooled by those his father deemed worthy.
to make a mistake? well, that was to be punished. miyuki was soft, malleable- but he never lost the childish air to him even as he was forced to fit inside of this well-manufactured box that his father was crafting for him. but it did not help that the constant reminders of what he should be, what he must be... constantly etched into his mind until miyuki was not sure what he even was anymore. or what he desired.
so often, he escaped into books and movies. music. the only things that he had, really.
that is, until. his younger brother was born. akito, the second-born son. asahi did not plan on having a second child, but masami was elated. in recent years, she had grown farther away from her work, so a second child was all the more to dote on. after all, asahi was often busy with miyuki. and thus, she had her own distraction with akito.
only 3 years apart in age, akito and miyuki quickly grew to be close. secretly, he longed for a brother.... it was just him and his imagination, for the most part. there was not a time they did not spend together. and if his fathers true nature did not emerge before, it was only now that it began to show. he began to force miyuki further and further into what he desired. his punishments for slip-ups grew harsher and harsher. he shied away from the touch of others, flinching at the slightest raise of a hand. it was here where he began to grow into his gender identity. which only served as fuel for the fire.
and akito noticed.
in the absence of his father, but with the nurturing of his mother, akito grew up... differently. he observed, he watched. he listened. he knew everything that happened in the house, down to the business deals his father hid away. and the "business deals" that he kept from their mother.
miyuki was not interested in the family business, medicine... chemicals. but akito was. his older brother, the only friend that he had. well, he simply couldn't sit back and watch him get hurt. so his grand scheme began. while in his mind it was perfectly concocted, his formula for it all boiled down to obsession. if miyuki was unable to see,
then he wouldn't become the heir. it would require a caretaker, sudden blindness is often difficult to overcome. and with that out of the picture, he could spend more time with his brother... to him, it was rationalized perfectly.
except it wasn't. and when miyuki turned 18, started with the first casuality. sight. he had studied it enough, the right chemicals to obscure the vision but not completely cause external damage to the face. when the family had gone to bed, akito snuck into his brothers room. he was careful not to wake him, he knew how much of a light sleeper miyuki was. and while he slept, akito hurried as fast as he could, using an eyedropper to carefully place the liquid onto his brothers open eyes.
he only got one before the pain jolted miyuki awake. while his brother was in shock from the initial pain, akito climbed across his brother to hold the other eye open. it only took a minute for their parents to arrive, and for akito to jostle the room just enough to make it look like a break-in. he held his brother in his arms as he writhed and moaned in agony, lying through his teeth as he spun a web to the two that had just arrived.
but most importantly, to his father.
confined to a hospital room until he recovered, the family waited anxiously to hear the results. but it was inevitable- his eyes had been scarred to the point there was no way to recover his vision. a fact that akito knew. asahi was furious, throwing himself back into his work. but it did not stop there.
except this time, he would wait. this plan was much deeper, it required a greater escape route and money that he did not have himself. but his father sure did. he secured passports, IDs, business associates from a region that akito was not completely familiar with. but those that despised his father... maybe just a bit more than he did. and would do anything to see him fall. the pharmaceutical industry is cutthroat, after all.
with an exchange of money that was definitely not his own, akito placed a hit on his father. his motives were strictly selfish- after all, he simply wanted miyuki to himself. away from their father, away from their mother. once miyuki had returned to the hospital, akito had taken it upon himself to handle most of the care his brother had needed. feeding him, dressing him, making sure he did not get sick and compromise his immune system. helping him walk.
akito did everything.
and before the set date, the two brothers left. akito had confided in him mere hours before, and miyuki...
miyuki wanted to leave. so he agreed- but unaware of where they were going, he simply followed. they were supposed to be missing, and once the news of his fathers death... and his mothers, as well, broke? money took care of that- legally, they were dead. for there was nothing left to the umeyama name but a skeleton of a home.
using the associates akito had secured from their father, he ensured... a safe, and discreet way into anrui. he had somewhere for them to stay, and a home for now. at least.
and if anything, above all, miyuki has full trust in his brother.
