"We keep on walkin' till we find something else yup." Raymond nodded, petting Garshasp as they started walking along, Rostam being a bit on the slow side forced Raymond and the Duraludon to slow their pace though. Wasn't like Raymond wasn't used to it. He did grow up with a Haxorus being his ace, and the early years for them were... "But Garshasp here is a Duraludon. They're particularly rare, even in the Galar region where they seem to be found the most. He falls right into my specialty though, he's a Steel and Dragon type." Raymond nudged some trash out of the way and started walking towards some more abandoned concrete pipes, typically home to Pokemon here that seeked shelter of sorts and couldn't find anywhere better. "He should be fine though. I am concerned about him in the long run when it comes to moisture. I'm gonna have to find some special polish for him- shouldn't be too bad, nana might have some recommendations- They rust super easily, so they typically live in caves but- ah. We'll figure something out, won't we?" He directed the last part to the dragon following him about. "As for food, he should find some stuff he might like to eat laying somewhere about here. Something metallic yeah? Maybe we'll luck across some aluminum, bud. Either way he's probably just curious about the other egg he was sharing bag space with."

Pulling her notebook back out she cross-references her type chart. “Steel and dragon…. That’s a pretty solid type combo the two types seem to cover the weaknesses of the other fairly well. Only ground aaaaand fighting make it through. Loads of resistances as well.” She looks up and smiles, “But you knew that already, I’m more saying it aloud for my own benefit."

She looks up from the notebook as Raymond mentions finding aluminum for the duraludon. “Wow, they eat metals? That’s quite fascinating, but I suppose given their anatomy it makes sense. I wonder if it would become more durable if it ate harder metals. Or can it only digest softer ones like tin and aluminum? I suppose those would be less prone to rusting if it manifests the metals it consumes.” She gently chews her pencil as she ponders it. Pokémon biology was turning out to be a fascinating subject, she’d have to see if she could find some books on the matter.

As she thinks, she scans the environment looking for any other wilds or people. Their battle was sure to have drawn some attention. Raymond seemed to be heading towards some concrete piping, those would make a prime spot for wilds… or people to hide.

They seem to be taking a sort of break! This trainer generally looks more fed up than anything. Probably fed up of his younger companion giving him hell.

"Heh- yeah I wish it was that easy. It more over consumes minerals in general cause that's just what their body processes. They're actually super light and-" Raymond's thoughts were cut off as they rounded a corner, looking and spotting the two people that didn't seem to be doing much. And in order to look as inconspicuous as possible, Raymond rushed to put away Rostam and Garshasp. He really wasn't looking to duke it out with other trainers. Not without his dragons by his side. The older trainer moved to hide his growling Shinx behind his leg and that told them enough. "Wrong turn at industrial boulevard" Raymond joked. That earned a smirk from the older trainer, but the younger one didn't seem to like it too much. The younger one continued to squint while the older trainer maintained a more trained calm. "Mind if we... go by?" Hopefully both of them moving to hide their Pokemon sold a more calm air that he had watched growing up in what years he grew in Anrui for. And how his roommate behaved to prevent any unnecessary fights. The calmer trainer seemed to be ok with letting them by. Just like Raymond, he wasn't particularly looking to fight another person right now, and Raymond didn't want this egg hatching during a high tension moment either.

Rei takes the pencil out of her mouth abruptly as her mentor breaks off his sentence and returns his Pokémon. Any confusion she had was soon cleared up as she too rounded the corner and saw the two trainers. Finally, a chance to prove herself and do her job. She levels a cold gaze and implacable expression at the two trainers, sizing them up. It seemed at least one of them was doing the same. 

Just as she is about to start questioning the two, Raymond spoke up, made a joke and asked their permission to pass. Maybe he knew something she didn’t, so she decided to follow his lead. She would remain alert, but would follow him out if allowed to do so.


Assuming they were allowed to leave, she would glance over her shoulder periodically to make sure they weren’t followed and wait until they’d gone far enough that they’d be out of earshot before she spoke, “What was that about? We didn’t even ask them to show id. Is there some op going on here that I don’t know?” Her voice was a well-practiced, managerial calm. She hoped that was the answer, but couldn't shake the strong feeling Raymond had led them to derelict their duty. This man was proving to be a real mixed bag.

Show IDs? Some sort of op? This lady was definitely off the deep end or one hell of a loyalist. Either way, Raymond was smart enough to know that he wasn't safe just outright saying he doesn't give a shit about Plasma or helping them fulfill their goals. He wanted his dragons back, and he'd beat the shit out of anyone that stood between his progression and his aces. He still needed a solid excuse though. "Firstly. Do you have anyone that actually gives a shit and knows that you're out here if something happens and you don't make it back or contact by nightfall? Secondly, you have literal babies on your team, as well as an injured Rattata. And I don't have my aces." Raymond shrugged both of his arms and turned back to face the way he was walking. "Sizing them up, they seemed to be not too terribly strong but they were training too by the looks of it. Learn to pick your battles instead of headlong asking everyone and their grandmother, especially a guy with a growling Shinx, for IDs." Raymond sighed and continued walking. "You're out here to learn. Not become a fucking face in the missing section of an already over filled bulletin board." This egg in his backpack could also spare to hatch any fucking moment now.

Literal babies… wasn’t he the one with a duraludon still wet from the egg? Still, the point was valid, even if it was rife with excuses. Duty did not care about things like convenience, if he wasn’t prepared to fight, no matter what, why was he out here? This was a war, after all; and war surely didn't care if you were at your best.

“Yes, I am out here to learn, but we also have jobs and their obligations to consider as well and I am prepared to execute them as best I can. You should be too, aces or not. My restaurant surely didn't care about my academic career. Nor did my studies care we had 2 people not show up to work. The test still happened the next day regardless.” She fixes Ray with an absolutely scathing look, jaw quivering with anger, “And, no, I don’t have anyone who ‘gives a shit’ about me anymore because they died with everyone else at St. Jasper’s. Does anybody anymore?”

She takes a few deep breaths, clenching and unclenching her fists “Perhaps it is best if we move on from this and return to why we are here. That shinx, would you mind telling me about them?” She flips to a new page in her notebook, prepared to write more. Trying to clear her mind of the loss and rage that filled her.

"Girl and I don't give a shit about your restaurant or career. And I don't care if you got someone or not, I barely know your ass. All you're doing is proving that if you go missing, ain't no one gonna notice, rei. And just cause it's a warzone doesn't excuse you to go barreling into battles left n right without doing any sizing up. Raymond notices her quivering when he looks over his shoulder and snorts. "If you can't keep your temper when you're told that not all battles are worth fighting, then you need more than a battle coach, you need a life coach. I ain't here for a lecture from you either. I've done my time traveling a region alone, participating in battles and learning and I've had my fair share of life drama but that doesn't make me out to be a bumbling idiot." Raymond shook his head. He lost his team of aces to his shitty Plasma father cause he just randomly deemed he wasn't "strong" enough to handle them. Bullshit. All Plasma folk knew how to do was sit around and spew lies. Raymond wasn't going to let it go easily. "Remember we ain't friends. I'll tell you about that Shinx but we need a clear understanding that this isn't about the fucking war. It's about teaching someone who knows jack shit about battling how to fucking battle. And you need to accept that half of the battle is being able to size up your opponent's battle style and Pokemon strength at a glance or else you get folded in two."

She shrugs and nods, “Sure, I understand we aren’t friends. I never expected us to be. I do, however, expect a certain degree of professionalism from my peers and especially my ‘mentors’. I’m not here to give a lecture on responsibilities, but I expected someone with your reputation to be less lackadaisical about them, but that’s my fault for misjudging you.” Rei shakes her head, “And if you don’t think I can keep my temper and that I am a ‘bumbling idiot’, you’re clearly not as good a judge of people as you’re claiming to be, but again, that’s fine. I’m used to being underestimated as well. Showing an emotion is not the same as being ruled by it.”

Rei stops walking and looks up, fixing the giant of a man with a piercing glare,  “Now, can you keep things professional? Because you are correct, this is supposed to be a learning opportunity and, despite the talk of discretion being the better part of valor, you’re turning this into a pissing match. I am willing to push passed our differences if you are.” Just because he was big, and probably used to walking on everyone around him, doesn’t mean she had to put up with it. She could find everything this man could teach her in a book if she had to. She held her pencil in her notebook, ready to continue writing, or put it away and leave as the case may be.

"Oh this ain't a pissing contest. You don't wanna see a pissing contest." Raymond kept walking despite her stopping, tossing a hand over his shoulder. He wasn't going to give the other trainers a chance to catch up with them and overhear them bickering. Let her judge him, he took a breath of his own, but it was more concealed. Something he learned to do when trying to keep up his charismatic energy in the spotlight of a stadium when he was on the backfoot against someone who was countering his team. Don't let the crowds see you waver, his grandmother had always told him. "Never let the opponent see you shake or sweat for any reason other than your boundless enthusiasm for battling." "Shinx." He started, pulling out his phone to shoot a quick text to his roommate, then tucking it away. God knows how petty this woman is. She was a Plasma nutcase, that much was showing through more and more, he didn't need to risk getting into shit because he couldn't bite his tongue. "A pure electric type Pokemon. They usually have some major issues with their ability, Rivalry, holding them back, as well as the lack of physical electric type moves. These can be partially overcome by giving them ability capsule or finding one who is lacking it's Rivalry, an ability that weakens attacks against opposite sex pokemon and strengthens attacks against same sex. They have a hidden ability, a rare ability, known as Guts, which ups their attack power when they have a status condition. It also allows them to ignore the damage reduction burn typically causes." Raymond continues walking, feeling the egg in his backpack begin to shift more frequently. "Luxray, the final evolution of Shinx, Luxio between them, suffers from not having access to Ion Deluge, a move that turns a normal type attack into an electric type attack for that turn. A shame, really, but I've seen Luxray rip apart entire teams with just a Flame Orb, Guts and Wild Charge. Electric types get to benefit from having several resistances and only one weakness."
