If Ray weren’t a repository of information to be picked through, she’d slap him. Now wasn’t the time for such childish antics. How’d this person even become a grunt with this ‘don’t tell me what to do attitude’ after a suggestion? He’d never make it in food service, that’s for sure, it was all order shouting there. This wasn’t the time for that though, the rattata was charging Wisp, “Wisp! Dod-“ It was too late, and ultimate unnecessary. The rodent seemed to just phase through the candle as if it weren’t there. Rei allowed herself a moment of satisfaction as the match up was going as she expected. “Good work, Wisp, hit it again with Psychic!" Wisp nodded, flame burning brightly, as he solidified his form again and exerted mental force against the rattata again, floating into the air a few inches as it did so.

The wingull looks in confusion as strange energy manifests around the rattata they were trying to steal food from… they didn’t do that. That’s odd. What’s that noise? OH NO! it lets out an indignant, and slightly embarrassing squawk as a ghostly fist punches it squarely on the beak. Stars swam across their vision as they tried to regain their senses. In the attempt to do so, it wobbles precariously and falls off of the dumpster lid they were standing on, losing any ability to counter attack before the ghost could attack again.

Rei would've felt bad for that if they weren't used to coming out of the gate swinging like they just did. The Wingull flinched off of the dumpster, taken off guard by Rostam's attack. Rei on the other hand- Ugh, Raymond was starting to feel like he should start charging people if they want to learn from him. "You can do more than just attack y' know. You can do a status move and attacking move in a single turn. There's some exceptions obviously, like protect and what not- Rostam! Shadow Claw!- but I'm p sure you don't have protect on that Litwick."
Rostam drew their arm back in after the successful Astonish, only for their other arm to take on an eerie glow, claws forming out of the manifesting darkness as it lashed out once again towards the Wingull laying on the ground.
Raymond did let out a soft curse though, and bent down to one knee to place Marg between his legs where she could hide and put his backpack on the ground in front of him, feeling one of the eggs moving around a particularly... feverish amount.

The Rattata shakes itself off, only to get struck by another psychic, letting out an absolutely infuriated cry. There wasn't much it could do and it was passing right through this ghost. Digging her paws into the ground, she focused hard on the candle, and then charged once more to attempt a tackle on the ghost type...

Rei should have let this guy talk about battle and typing more, his attitude was making him out to be a total asshole. He did have a point though, if there was time to increase stats and attack, she’d be a fool to not take that opportunity. “Wisp. Calm mind as the tackle goes through you and then return fire with another psychic blast.”
Her voice was cold and icy, but her anger was high. Hadn’t Raymond given her a lecture about taking care of her Pokémon and making sure their needs were met earlier and he’s over there letting an empath that isn’t fighting be exposed to all of this anger and pain? Surely his actions and words were at conflict. She wanted to call him out on it, and would have if she weren’t trying to preserve this resource or knew him better. Wisp closes his eyes and takes a long breath, focusing his mind on the battle, and subsequently raising his special attack and special defense. He almost didn’t notice the rattata passing completely through him. He hoped it pissed the rat off. Life energy ‘tasted’ better when they were angry or afraid. Opening his eyes, he levels another mental assault against the frustrated rattata.

The wingull shook its head and saw what had caught it off guard, it was some sort of floating rock. They had to act fast, that thing was readying another attack. Gathering itself it uses agility to limber up, takes to the air, and launches into a quick attack, diving towards the demon. Only to pass right through the monster and feel raking pain cross its back as dark claws rent it. The wingull fell to the ground, skidding a bit, as it lost consciousness. But that always worked......

Ralts shivered against Raymond's leg and he drew in a deep breath- held it- and released it. Bending over awkwardly to pet her head as gently as he could with how big his hands were. "Hey Marg, it's ok- Want back in your ball?" He may be intolerant but the building tension was becoming increasingly apparent in the Ralts... there'd definitely be no battling with Marg while Rei was around.
She wound up choosing to go back in her ball right as a cracking noise came from his bag, making him draw out the container holding a Duraludon egg. "Good job on that knock out Rostam! We... probably should've gone easier- Nah. No regrets. Right?" And there was a sound that... MIGHT be agreement coming from the irritably possessed stone. "Do me a solid buddy? Throw this in the dumpster?"
He passed the used up and dead egg incubator to Rostam, who tossed it towards the dumpster while Raymond stepped back to let the Duraludon come out of it's egg. His eyes could light up a room. "No fucking way dude-"
While the giant greeted the newly hatched dragon in the area, and the grouchy stone threw away some trash, the Rattata was still flailing. It tried damn near everything in it's books and it would keep on with trying. This time it threw itself at the Litwick again, attempting to Facade the ghost type, the power of the attack already diminished due to lacking a status effect.
"Keep it up you're almost there." Came the voice from Raymond who didn't look up from checking on the Duraludon. "Maybe you should consider catching her if you like her. Raticate can be ferocious if given to the right trainer." And a bitch is always really good at raising a bitch.

Upon hearing the ralt’s pokeball activate Rei lets out a small sigh of relief, poor thing would at least be out of the noise now. Something else was going on over there, but given the way Ray was reacting it was positive, she could focus on that after the fight was over.
“Nearly there, Wisp, keep it up. Calm mind and hit it again with psychic.”
Her voice remained cold and icy. The rinse repeat was a little stale, but it was the only real option she had right now. It was working too, so there really wasn’t cause for complaint. Maybe she was just having performance anxiety since it was her first time fighting and she was being watched. “Catch it? Sure, seems feisty enough.”
She sees the Rostam carrying an incubator with fresh broken eggshell in it to the dumpster they were fighting by. Not taking her eyes off of what was in front of her, “Congratulations on the hatch. What are you going to name them?"
While their trainer was busy talking, Wisp takes another deep breath and clears their mind, cutting out distraction and sharpening their focus. The rodent’s life energy was delicious and sustaining, but apparently, they wanted to capture them. The litwick disappointedly turns their life draining to the passed out wingull. They were knocked out, not dead after all. The rattata flies right through the ghost again as it tries in vain to harm it. Wisp turns towards the rat and psychic energy once again forms around the poor vermin as he unleashes a Psychic attack on them.

Raymond pet Garshasp, getting a read on the dragon's personality as he looked around. "He looks like a Garshasp to me. You respect that buddy?" He asked the Pokemon, still crouched and watching him as he let out a metallic cry. "Hell yeah." With that, Raymond stood up and turned to the KO'd Wingull, carefully picking it up and carrying it over to put it under one of the lids of the dumpster, leaving the other one open.
"I ain't gonna catch ya buddy, but this'll keep you safe while you recover." He spoke to it on his own, moving back towards his own Pokemon and putting his backpack with the final egg back onto his back.
The Rattata on the other hand hung it's head as another Psychic wave of energy struck it down. A mix of absolutely infuriated to begin with, and enraged because none of it's attacks were working. She was the best of her litter! She absolutely wrecked other Rattata just like her momma and here she was losing to this strange candle!
The Rattata shook it's head and took a breath. She knew she wasn't going to last longer, so in a desperate attempt, with nothing else to do, she charges the Litwick, energy gathering around her and forming a star to throw at the Litwick right as she got in her face.
"Oh! Holy Shit she knows Last Resort too!" Raymond spoke up from where he stood, Garshasp and Rostam observing from behind him.

Rei archs a brow, “Garshasp?” she turns briefly to look at the newly hatched dragon. “Should suit them well.” Whatever the hell Garshasp meant. Confusing name for a confusing looking mon. Turning her attention back to the fight as the wingull gets deposited into the dumpster, Rei smirks, “I definitely like the fight in this one I’d bet some direction could make that natural wild aggression into something great.” Pulling her backpack forward she pulls a pokeball out of it. Pokeballs were pretty self-explanatory, button goes on mon. The hard part of the encounter was over… if fighting something that didn’t seem to be able to hurt you could be considered hard. She throws the ball towards the rattata, hoping for the best. She’d always heard it was best to weaken Pokémon before trying for a capture, this one definitely seemed to be nearing defeat. The litwick casts the rattata another devilish grin and let out a ghostly laugh as the star launched from their last resort sails through its ethereal body. They had spirit, that’s for sure, shame he wasn’t going to be able to turn it into fuel. As the pokeball hit the opposing rattata, Wisp stood ready, just incase it managed to break free.

Raymond hummed as he pet the Duraludon, Rostam's eerie eyes either locked onto Rei, Wisp or the Rattata being drawn into the ball. Either way, Raymond's eyes registered the whole process of catching a pokemon out of the corner of his eyes. The ball thrown and the Pokemon being drawn in.
"Yup." He spoke as he stood up, looking towards the Litwick and then to the trainer... then back to Rostam, nodding. "Channeling that kind of energy and keeping it under control when they evolve is the hard part." Raymond was sure Rostam's short temper would give him some trouble as well down the road.
Garshasp moved around some, eventually ending up behind Raymond, sniffing the bag containing the egg that he had just finished sharing a space with.

The ball flew back into Rei’s hand shortly after it clicked closed, indicating a successful capture. “I think I’ll give this little one some rest before I let her out again.” She approaches Wisp with a grin on her face, crouching down to get closer to the ghost candle’s face. “Good job Wisp, you did beautifully. You’ve earned some rest too.” Clicking the button on Wisp’s pokeball she returns the smugly smiling candle to it. She was really going to enjoy battling. Winning them felt great. What a rush, and this one couldn't even fight back properly! Standing up, she does a little twirl, “Well, that went better than expected, and it looks like we’re both leaving with new additions to our teams.” Finally having the chance to examine it, she tilts her head to the side, “Umm, what is Garshasp anyway? If I had to guess by appearance, I’d say it’s a steel type of some kind. It’s definitely not a Pokémon I’ve seen before.” Seeing the Pokémon she didn’t know was called duraludon sniffing at Raymond’s backpack she puts a hand over her mouth and laughs lightly, “It seems like cracking that egg really worked up their appetite.” Looking around to make sure there weren’t any more trash eaters wanting to move in, she shrugs, “So where are we off to now? Back to walking, talking, and stalking?”
