Raymond grimaced at the comment towards Yamask, looking to Rostam, who's stone body ground together as the pieces of the slab wound tighter in annoyance with Rei's words. "I wouldn't say they're living in a constant state of agony, per say. They're still a sentient creature with feelings." These Pokemon weren't fully trained yet, something as malicious as a Runerigus was prone to lashing out and if he wasn't careful, they'd end up having to be forced back into their ball.
He adjusted his backpack, feeling the hatching box inside press against his back, especially with most of Marg's weight resting on top of it. "Yeah, lets get looking." Raymond nodded, looking around the area, eyes watching the old decrepit corners, abandoned projects and pipes they walked by.
"There really isn't much your Shuckle has to worry about here. Magnemite are the only thing I can think of off the top of my head..."

Rei puts a hand to her chin, “Magnemite, that’s a steel type if I remember. I have a noibat with me.” She interrupts herself, “Yes, I know, we got too engrossed with Bloo I’ve failed to mention my other team members.” Motioning to the other balls on her belt. “Anyway, the noibat, Noctula, knows heat wave. As I recall it is one of steel’s few weaknesses.” Pointing to the other ball, “I also have Wisp, the litwick, but they haven’t learned any fire type attacks yet, so I don’t know how useful they’d be in that situation.” Rei gets her notebook back out, even though she just put it away, in anticipation of new, and potentially useful information. “I was told to keep the litwick well-nourished because of how they will choose to feed themselves if they aren’t and that Noibat are very good at navigating the darkness.”

Raymond's eyes lit up at the mention of a Noibat. Yes, the Litwick was also an interesting team member but- "I had a Noivern! They're so good. They're absolute dickheads when they're hungry and in the wild you really don't want to come across one without fruit in hand but my Noivern was an absolute beast.
He adjusted the backpack straps one more time, making sure it, the egg inside and Marg was secure once and for all. "Speed up, beat em up and then run like hell with U-turn if they try to counter him! Heat Wave is a super good attack to have on them for coverage- And with their ability to just ignore protect spammers and shit? Yes please." Marg let out a sigh from where she was hidden in the large hood and Raymond kept going. "They got a nasty issue dealing with Ice types. And Rock types, Dragon types and Fairy types all also give them a bit of trouble. But they got sweet immunity to ground and not many resistances, but enough. Bug, Fire, Water, and Fighting don't give them much trouble. And grass doesn't do much of anything to them."
Rostam's boiling anger was still just that, boiling, but he still didn't quite strike out at his master. While his master was annoying, his master seemed smart enough that he wanted to try to stay on his good side... no matter how much he wanted to pummel him and the annoying woman with him. "And Litwick? Chandelure are good. A little squishy but they hit incredibly hard. Oh and if you don't train those guys properly, they will outright just eat your soul or anybody else's so yeah. Make sure it doesn't get hungry. And if little Wisp you got there doesn't know a fire type attack well- that's a young Litwick." he furrowed his eyebrows, shaking his head. "Either way, Normal and Fighting type moves can't touch him. If a Pokemon has a type that's immune and a type that's weak to a certain type. The immunity will always override the weakness. So if Litwick was Ghost and Dark type, it'd still be immune to Fighting type attacks." A breath, that's all. "If you have Flash Fire on that Litwick, it's also immune to Fire based attacks and boosts it's own Fire type attacks. And that only happens once. As for what to look out for, you should avoid Dark types, Rock types, Water, Ghost and Ground based attacks. Grass, Ice, Poison, Steel, Fairy barely bug Litwick and Bug itself has nothing on it. So you got some really good coverage starting out in those two there. They'll watch each other's backs fairly well."

Rei’s eyebrows arch, “My, noivern sounds quite formidable. It’s clear I have a lot of studying and training to do to use her effectively.”
She politely listens as Ray goes over the type coverages of her Pokémon. The shuckle had been her first, but she’d done, at least cursory, research on the others she picked up to see how they would complement her team. So far rock was a problem she needed a solution for. All of her team was weak to it. Hopefully she could find something that could deal with that and be a solid physical attacker, her team also seemed to be leaning too heavily towards special damage. She smiles, “Oh yes, another grunt was trying to offload the leftovers of a breeding project so I grabbed my little Wisp. I feel he will be very useful once trained. It was the same with Noctula.” She shrugs, “Maybe I’m too soft, but those babies looked like they needed a home.” Reviewing her notes, and getting things back on track, “So, in theory, a dark/poison type Pokémon that could float somehow wouldn’t have any weaknesses? Are there any Pokémon like that?"

Raymond nodded at the mention of Noivern being formidable. Granted Raymond was slightly biased but Raymond had trained them personally and won tournaments with them so- they are. He shoved his hands under his backpack straps, feeling ralts shift how she was sitting. Either the moods were stressing her, or the egg in it's container in the backpack was stressing her.
"Yeah, honestly, breeding projects find homes better when training isn't... illegal." Raymond make a pbbht sound with his long sigh, and honestly focusing on poison and dark types seemed infinitely more intersting. "No. There aren't any poison and dark types that float. Unless you count that guy who literally gave his Drapion a fucking Air Balloon." Raymond tossed one hand halfway into the air in annoyance. "There aren't many poison and dark types at all. Hisuian Quilfish and Overqwil, the Alolan Grimer line, Stunky's line and Drapion."
He let out a hum. "Drapion are incredibly difficult to control. They rip up cars and shit. They attack people and Pokemon and are notoriously just, violent. Hilariously afraid of Hippowdon. Like they know their own weaknesses. If you can stand the smell I guess I'd recommend Skuntank or Alolan Muk. Skuntank can be either or when it comes to disposition, but Alolan Muk is hilariously friendly. Like. Incredibly friendly."

Rei sighs, she didn’t expect that bullshit line coming from another grunt, “Come on now, training isn’t illegal, we are both legal trainers. It’s just restricted in this region. I do see your point though. More trainers, more potential homes for breeding projects.”
She puts a hand to her mouth and laughs at the thought of a large drapion being held aloft by a single red balloon, “As funny as that sounds, that does seem like a valid tactic.” She listens to the ramble about Pokémon dispositions, ‘A super friendly poison type, that sounds like a recipe for disaster, seems like a good way to get poisoned from a hug.’ she thinks to herself. Her attention then gets pulled to noise coming from a nearby alleyway. Slinking up to a corner she pokes her head around to get a better look she pulls back and looks towards Ray, “There’s a couple Pokémon fighting over there over garbage. One of them is a rattata, they were everywhere in Kanto, I’m not sure about the other, it’s a bird of some kind. Are either of them worth the trouble? That rattata looks meaner than most of the ones I’ve seen before, but I guess it’d have to in order to thrive here."

Sweet dragon gods above, Raymond put a hand on his hip and made a face, watching the Pokemon in the distance. For now he'd avoid the conversation with this woman about how pokemon training is absolutely illegal if people are beaten, forcibly detained and bullied for owning Pokemon. But she seemed dedicated to the cause, and opening his mouth would likely start a bigger fight. So he squeezed his hip and physically bit his tongue. He was only in Plasma because of his shit not-dad.
"Well we're out here to train and learn, so of course they're worth the "trouble"." He made the air quotes, watching the Rattata and Wingull square off with each other. The Wingull didn't look as strong as the Rattata, but that Rattata also moved quickly and powerfully. "That Rattata is strong. And that other Pokemon is a Wingull. Found all over the place. Where there's a coast there's probably a Wingull. They're Water and Flying type. Can't take many hits but can be very utilitarian."
He adjusted his backpack one more time and nodded, setting a stance and considering who he'd send out against either Pokemon. He'd definitely fight it, even if he had two eggs, one in an incubator, on his back. Marg lifted her head at the shifts in her master's demeanor, placing her arms around his neck to hug him from behind. Rostam on the other hand crunched and made grinding noises as he also considered the Pokemon across from the group.
"Pick a target or I'll pick one first." He wouldn't wait around forever. Instead he started working himself up for the battle, Marg perking up some as her master gently bounced on his toes.

Rei takes a deep breath, this was her first ‘real’ battle, sure it was against a couple Pokémon fighting over garbage, but it was still a fight, and it wasn’t in the VR, if anything bad happened it stuck.
Rei’s face hardens and her tone sharpens, “Fine, I’ll take the rattata on with Wisp, that’d be a good match up for me there, ghost types are immune to the normal type. Do what you can to keep the wingull off of me, water won’t be good for him." The adrenaline of the situation was kicking in, her vision narrows as she sent Wisp out towards the rattata, “Go! Hit that rattata with psychic and be ready for a counter attack!” Responding to his master’s call, the flame on top of the litwick's head burns a brighter blue, burning at his target’s life energy and a sadistic smile crosses the candle’s face as its psychic energy begins to manifest around the rodent. Finally, it was time to cut loose. Berries were nice, but it wasn’t as pure as life energy.

"If I weren't out here to teach you, I'd walk away from someone telling me what to do." Ray shook his shoulders and set his feet shoulder width apart. The eggs in his back were safe and Marg settled back into his hood some, feeling the energy behind his conviction before he said it out loud. "Alright Rostam. Lets see how well you fare with the type disadvantage! Go! Astonish the Wingull!"
Raymond shouted out with a voice trained to yell over the roar of a crowed as Rostam moved forward, heavy stone body setting into the ground with a thud. Quicker than most untrained eyes could watch, the Runerigus immediately threw out a shadowy arm, aiming to snap and strike the Wingull right in the face before it could find a chance to react.
The giant man was paying attention to both sides of the battle, even if he looked wholly focused on Rostam alone.

The Rattata saw your psychic coming, and as much as it would have loved to do something about it, the chittering rat was caught off guard by the psychic, baring it's fangs towards your Litwick. The wild Pokemon's tail lashed back and forth in a warning before dashing straight towards your Litwick in an attempted Quick attack.
