APPEARANCE
PERSONALITY
POSITIVE - TRUSTING - DETERMINED - GOOD-NATURED - RESPONSIBLE - HARDWORKING NEGATIVE - CLOSED OFF - AGGRESSIVE - RASH - UNSOCIAL - GUILT-FILLED | Trusting has always been the best quality of Riley. For him, if you can find trust within him, you’ve found a lifelong ally. He takes information about every situation seriously and can even take them to the grave if need be. He doesn’t tattle on or backstabs those who trust him. Information can be dangerous, and he knows better than to share it, the near definition of a perfect friend. He is also extremely determined, setting out to do tasks that have to be completed before he moves onto the next, no matter what that task may be. Despite the things he may have done in the past, Riley has a good soul. It is far from pure and may have a little dirt on it, but underneath it all, he tends to do what is right above what he is ordered to do. He is caring and loving to his Pokemon, never once has he been cruel to them and when he thinks of the ones before them, it's not without some form of guilt. When it comes down to relationships, he rarely falls in love but when he does, he falls hard into it. He is responsible for his actions of course, rarely lying but typically with a twist on the actual truth. Still, it is easier for him to allow the blame to fall on his shoulders, rather than see someone else suffer in the same way that he has. He tends to cover for people, so if you need something serious, he's definitely your guy. You don’t have to get close to him or have him open up to you to learn that he is a hard worker. Like anyone else, he does have his own goals and dreams that he works towards, not that he would tell anyone about them. He doesn’t do a half-assed job with anything since he’s most likely get thrown into jail if he did. Regardless of all that, he does want to reach the higher ranks of Plasma so that he can get things exactly the way he wants them: peaceful and quiet. Maybe a little bit of safety thrown into the mix as well. With this being said, he is an extremely closed-off individual, rarely allowing for anyone to come too close to him. If you can crack through that thick shell of his, it is due to him becoming weak momentarily. He tends to keep to himself, not wanting his actions to cause further harm to anyone else. It may not be so hard to believe after saying this that Riley does not play well with others. He can become easy to anger if the wrong thing is said or done, and he has a habit of smarting off if you speak to him the wrong way or bring light to something unpleasant. In all truth, he would sooner bury a knife in your chest than to hear what you have to say (if he still had those knives). He is entirely rash with his actions, becoming angered enough causes him to act more on emotions than thought. He doesn’t stop to think of the consequences of these things and will get far ahead of himself, rushing headfirst and blindly into a situation. He's never been a social butterfly, rarely jumping into groups or speaking first in a conversation. He hates having to get to know someone, especially if that person forces themselves into his life. Situations can become strained and awkward for him as well since he doesn’t fully know how to deal with his own issues, let alone the issues of others. Guilt is a huge weakness for him and if something were to happen to anyone who did speak to him, he would believe it to be his fault. He's caused death and heartache before to those close to him, such as Lukas's death (hat could be the most guilt that he will ever feel, keeping him up at night with nightmares), for being a pain in Zeus' was for a brief while, and even for up and leaving Erich without saying so much as a good-bye. |
BACKGROUND
It was a short-lived engagement. They had not been careful enough and during one of their meetings, they were ambushed by members of Plasma. Lukas fought them, Riley fought them, trying to protect the one thing that mattered to him. His Pokemon could wreak havoc but were overpowered and caged up, thrashing at the bars to reach Riley. He didn’t see them after that, his eyes on Lukas as both of them were brought to their knees, guns pointed at their heads. Several minutes passed as radios went off about what to do and how things should proceed. It came out of nowhere when the member with their gun on Lukas shot him directly after a ’Roger that.’ Riley was knocked out.
When he woke up, he found himself chained to the wall, the locks uncomfortable around his wrists. He had been charged with treason and conspiracy, but due to his occupational history, he was spared a death sentence (in which he wished that they would change their mind about). He would be whipped until he was nearly dead, sent back to his cell to heal, whipped again, the process continuing repeatedly. On other days, they would strap him to a table – a psychic type Pokemon in front of him – and force him to relive the moment that Lukas had been shot at least once a week, for several hours. Eventually, the only thing he felt was a numbness in his heart. For six years this continued, until the fated day that he was sent to bathe and dress and go to a meeting with Antoinette herself.
She released him for good behavior, mostly because she broke him and knew it. He had learned his lesson, or so maybe she thought, and though he did not reclaim his Pokemon and past position, he was free. Or something like that. He was still made to live with members of Plasma who would be forced to watch him, Zeus and Erich. It was all short-lived, but it happened regardless. Zeus and Riley just didn’t click together right and spent more time annoying the other than getting anything done. Erich was different for him, but they had grown closer and a relationship was beginning to form and that terrified Riley, the thought of losing something so great heavy in his mind. It had almost happened once, and he couldn’t take that possibility happening again, debating on how he should walk away from it. However, he wasn’t given the decision to leave on his own terms.
He had been out on a mission when he was ambushed by Resistance members. It was an irony and he even thought that he would be killed. At least, he was sure of it until he saw who led the group of rebels. His brother Ashton had stepped up and demanded that he be taken with them. Now a prisoner at one point for two separate groups.
You could say that Riley was happy to see his brother after all these years. You would also be completely wrong about it, as Riley was pissed. They removed his knives and placed them in an unknown area, never to be seen by him again. They tried to snatch up his Pokemon as well, but he threatened each one of them if they did. Instead, Ashton took them with the promise that he would get them back and, though Riley hates his brother, he reluctantly handed them over. At least his prison was much more accommodating than the last one had been. He had been placed in a padded room at first, a temporary place until his brother’s own room was given bared windows and several locks on the doors. For weeks, Ashton attempted to convert him from Plasma to the Resistance. In a part of Riley’s heart, his brother didn’t have to do this, the part of his heart that still loved Lukas tied him to the Resistance’s cause for the rest of his life. In a different way anyways. Perhaps cooking breakfast for the little brother that you hadn’t seen in years wasn’t the way to inspire one to change sides.
After months of being stuck there, he thought he would never be able to leave, not until someone intentionally left the door open. When he peered out the door, he found a bag against the wall, his Pokeballs placed carefully inside along with a few other things. He sneaked out as casually as he could and broke into a run as soon as he was outside. He thought about going back to Erich’s place, to explain everything but he just wasn’t sure about it. Instead, he got himself a hotel for the night and began thinking of what steps he should take next.[/ul][/div][/div]
