It's officially summer in Anrui, and the heat is here to prove it! Pokemon are out in droves, all trying to find some relief from the heat. Be careful - they're a little extra testy during heatwaves, and you don't want to get caught between them and some refreshing shade!
Welcome to the Anrui Region, where training is illegal. The Anrui Region is a desolate and lonely place, a once bustling region that has lived under the oppression of Team Plasma for many years. Plasma took over and outlawed training of Pokemon. Raids occurred and people and Pokemon alike were killed. Back alley gym matches were held, but people remain terrified to overthrow Plasma. Who will you side with, Plasma? Or The Resistance?
One of our most welcoming, loyal, and patient of members can be found in Bee - who has been a member for two years now! Always friendly and active in both OOC and IC spaces, Bee is often one of the first people that new members are greeted by and lends a face of familiarity and kindness to any of Anrui's frontiers. With immaculate detail to each masterfully crafted post he writes, as well as the memorable and relatable qualities of his lifelike characters, Bee is a joy to roleplay with and a treasure to Anrui. We're honored to spotlight Bee as our Member of the Month!
As hardened as she is fierce, Nell Stark is a wonderful example of when the extremities of Anrui's political climate are pushed too far on a breakable human mind. Protective of her ideals and morals to the point of defection, watching how Nell is portrayed adapting to the side of the enemy she was once factioned against through her front of snappy indifference is equally parts fascinating and ambiguous. We're happy to announce Nell Stark as our Character of the Month!
In our Thread of the Month oh, life is bigger, Desmond Winters has been in prison for a decade now for murder and procuring, having fully accepted his fate of rotting in the concrete box - that was, until Phoenix Delgado, head researcher of RIVER on the hunt for a new assistant intern, showed up one fateful afternoon. With Desmond's subpar interview skills and Phoenix's cutthroat choosiness, these two collide and find that the traits once considered to be undesirable by others in a professional setting somehow fit together like puzzle pieces.
"Women want me, fish fear me. As loud as it typically was, he had never grown used to the rush of noise - the absolute cacophony - that rushed to his head, every time he would catch small glimpses of ripples and mistakes within the fabricated realm which held him willingly captive. Glitches in the simulation during which the veil would be tattered, fluttering about in the winds of unknown change and what lied behind the wall. Welling inside of him, something was wrong. So entirely, entirely wrong; the same kind of wrong as when he was certain he had left the stove on, or hadn't locked his door. The same wrong that rendered the atmosphere dense and strange, though apparently invisible to his eyes. They had probably forgotten to have her change before being sent out to collect him. Or warn him. Or terrorize him." - Julian Miller, A[D]VERSARY

Ray had chosen a spot that was specifically isolated. He didn't want to be bothered while trying to hatch eggs by a bunch of randoms in the harbor town, and he certainly couldn't be assed with overloading the young Ralts with emotions. She he tried to stay as calm as possible as his brain ran over what to do.
His legs were crossed, the Ralts was laying in his lap, using his knee to support her head and the eggs were in front of him, all still in movement... nowhere near close to hatching. Reaching up, he ran his fingers through his dreads, adjusting his hat just enough to keep the chill off his ears.
It was relatively silent, if you didn't take into account the sounds of the ocean in general, or the distant sounds of the city in the distance behind him. And he was being left alone, which was fine. Occasionally, Marg would stir and look around, as if sensing something, but then give up and lay back down.

Kain frequented this area of Hyo city quite a bit as it was fairly isolated and calming for him. Harbor town was where the sea met the land and the sea was similar to Kain in his own eyes. The sea was always fluid and flowing yet rarely menacing for those not choosing to challenge it. The sea was also powerful and violent if angered or challenged, much like Kain who was calm and unassuming unless one dared to face him.
The cool air here was also nice, especially in the warmer months. Kain preferred cooler climates which often left him feeling uncomfortable in a tropical region such as Anrui. Little Ghost walked nervously beside him, the little fenniken he adopted quickly took to him but the pokemon here were quite a bit stronger than him and he was usually faced with a type disadvantage. Kain just wanted the small pokemon to get some fresh air and maybe learn a thing or two. Training had to start somewhere and Kain was definately not above harsh training and pushing his pokemon. To him, the best were never softies. Only the strongest can survive in this cruel world.
Old ships could be seen scattered far apart among the many docks that lined the shore. There were also a few beaches which seemed gloomy and were littered with trash from negligent people not caring about anything but their day to day lives. Kain sighed and looked around for any interesting pokemon or opportunities for training.
As he pressed forward, he noticed a rather tall person sitting alone with a pokemon Kain had never seen before. Kain actually really liked the little pokemon, it was quite adorable. Kain admittingly had a weak spot for cute things on occasion though he would never admit to it. He considered approaching the individual but he decided against it. He didn't know anything about this person and they had pokemon out in the open. It was possible he was like Kain and was simply brave enough to have a pokemon out in plain sight but there was a chance that he could be Plasma since they were allowed to have pokemon and thus wouldn't need to worry about any trouble.
He started to slowly approach the individual, only to get a better look at the rather cute pokemon. He was trying to be silent and he had Little Ghost on his back in his shirt to hide. It was too risky to let the pokemon be seen but the sound of the pokeball would get too much attention so he didn't want to do that either. Kain always thought through problems cautiously like this, he was the sort to always be overprepared rather than be caught in a troublesome situation. The real world was not like an anime where plot armor would save the day. In the real world, that suspenseful bad situation will likely always have a bad ending.

Ray was minding his own business, but to be honest, was starting to get a little bored of just sitting there. As his fingers ran over the eggs, moving them around just a little bit to check on them. All of them were ok, he was just getting a little impatient with waiting for them to hatch... but it wasn't like he could just force it.
Sighing, he looked down to Marg, watching her suddenly stir, sensing the emotions of something else again, probably. He wasn't entirely alarmed by it until she suddenly got up and backed against the opposite leg. Curious, he snapped his head over, eyes squinting. There was someone there, how did he let them get that close? Was he that distracted? Lifting his head up some more, one arm holding the small Pokemon, he rose up, dusting dirt off of his butt before looking at the person and his pokemon.
"Need something?" He asked the approaching person. Taking in the pokemon for just a second before looking back to the trainer. He was horribly outnumbered if he tried to start something, and at a disadvantage in general. Shrugging his shoulders, he pulled his hood closer to his neck, thick eyebrows raised under his hat.
Kain froze the moment the other individual stood up seeming to take notice of him. Kain did notice that the little pokemon who caught his attention seemed to stir first. It was really impressive and Kain sorta wanted one for himself now as a pokemon able to detect people would prove very useful to him.
The young male just seemed to keep a blank expression as he watched the other meet his gaze. He didn't have a good read on the person yet but they seemed content having their pokemon out in plain sight still so that was a bit troubling. He wasn't aware of anyone in the resistance who was that bold yet it was possible. No matter who he was, Kain could assume that the pokemon he saw was likely a psychic type with such sensory abilities though he could be all wrong as it was only an educated guess at this point. If he was right, trying to start trouble with this person would not end well as Kain had no way to take on a psychic type and win unless he simply used underhanded tactics like status conditions which was his plan if this individual tried to battle him.
"I was simply passing by..... Sorry for bothering you, I happened to notice that little pokemon you had with you.... Don't see many since they are illegal, you're quite bold having them out like that...." Kain responded in a low bland tone. His last little comment was more intended to probe for information and get a read on the person so that he could decide whether it was smarter to stick around or flee while he could. He was trying to make sure the person wasn't with Plasma, and if they were he had to flee carefully so as to avoid drawing attention to himself. He wasn't about to go down this early on, not even being able to test himself against a gym.
Kain looked around a bit after making his response, acting like he was just casually glancing around while he was actually looking for any wild pokemon in the area and also deciding where he should go next. Running into another person in this lonely place was a rarity, but seeing as they had pokemon, if they were not with Plasma he could try to learn a thing or two from them. Kain didn't like people but he did like using them like tools. To him, people were vessels for information. He had natural talent but lacked the information he craved to get better and to make his pokemon better.

Ray stared at the other person a moment longer, considering whether or not he should just pack up and walk away, or try to chase him off... although chasing wouldn't really work, would it? He didn't have his terrifying dragons anymore. His round table of dragon knights had been taken from him and for a moment, his eye almost twitched in irritation. But he was able to control it, staring at the other person for a moment longer, eyebrow raised but difficult to see under his hat.
When he commented that it was bold having his Pokemon out, he just shrugged a shoulder. Was this person hinting at someone? If he wanted to fight, he'd fight... mostly cause holding off a pest with just a Ralts would be difficult. "Who cares." Hyo was a shitty city, it was easy to get wrapped up in crime in a place that sucked as much as this place. But his first gym challenge would be here, so he was back and forth between Eve and Hyo, mostly to train his pokemon evenly and get ready. It wasn't a question in the slightest, from his time spent in Pyrite though, he was entirely used to being surrounded by crime.
First things first, the eggs. Some of them sat in a special case, but for the most part, the eggs were slowly starting to come to life more and more. As he risked a glance back at the eggs, he noticed the ones in the case starting to come to life more and more. Better. The bigger question though was why he felt the need to talk to him about his illegal Pokemon. All it did was make him think he was going to make some kind of move.
"So what about my Pokemon?" He finally asked, shifting his weight onto his other hip, hands in his hoodie pockets as he watched the stranger, waiting for an answer or movement.
