Zeus rubbed his chin and watched as the Ivysaur hopped out of the way using her vines. Impressive. He'd seen his own Bulbasaur move that way but he never expected any of the evolutions to be able to toss themselves around like that. Shows how much he payed attention to Browley's ramblings about that specific poison type... "Get out of that." He ordered Hagane, the Metang floating just out of reach of the powder, moving over it and floating back, low to the ground. He wasn't a Metagross just yet, so total control over anything vertical wasn't quite a thing his Metang had. The descent was a little wobbly, but he had avoided the quickly dissipating powder this time. "Zen Headbutt." Using Psychic again from so far away felt predictable... oh and zeus does what he wants. Hagane dashed closer to the Ivysaur, attempting to close the distance while trying to drive a psychic powered headbutt into Aspen. As the ivysaur landed with a bit of a thud, she let out a distinct grunt as well. Eyes flashing, it was quite clear that she wasn't pleased that the pokemon had avoided the sleep powder. The grunt was followed by a snarl and a stomp of her foot, daring the other pokemon to send another attack her way. She was young enough to not quite realize how much stronger the metang was, but she was fierce enough to dare it to attack her regardless.

Almost as if Zeus wanted the pokemon to get hit by her attacks, he gave some sort of command caused the metang to drift closer to the ivysaur, at an almost alarming rate. Unafraid of the pain of battling, the ivysaur held her ground. The attack would be worth it if it meant she could land her own attacks.

"Take down," the ivysaur heard her own trainer command, the woman's ideas syncing with her own perfectly. Bracing herself, she lifted her rear end slightly so that her bulb was pointed directly at the metang as he approached. At the last second, just before the metang's metal body collided with the ivysaur, a powder dotted with seeds burst from her bulb. She had timed it so closely to impact that there likely was no room for it to miss, but that also meant that the effects wouldn't take place until after the two bodies met.

The ivysaur was sent rolling. By all accounts, the attack should have done her in, but the small pokemon's spirit and absolute demand to find out whether or not her combo had landed forced her eyes open. She was laying on the ground, and her vision was blurry, but she was awake.

Zeus opened his mouth to command Hagane, but the Metang took a point blank shot of sleep powder to the face, knocking him to the ground while seeds wrapped around his metal arms. Tilting his head, he let out an amused chuckle. They weren't in danger, even if Hagane failed, his "big brothers" were still in his pockets. Though honestly... Zeus would rather not have too many Pokemon faint. It'd make them mad at him and that was never good. "Eh, well... hehe. Whoops." He rubbed his chin once again, shifting his weight onto his hip. He'd let him sleep and see if he'd wake up before he was chipped down. The ivysaur remained on the ground for several moments - while only a short time, it was much longer than she would have preferred to have been down. Her eyes attempted to blink away the blurriness that the impact had caused, trying to focus. She could see the large, silver hunk of metal a few feet away. Regardless of any sort of adrenaline that the sight of the creature pushed into her veins, she couldn't force herself to stand up any faster.

As her vision began to clear, she felt a certain sort of revitalizing chill seep into her skin. The leech seed must have landed, and while it wasn't giving her much to work with, it was at least giving her something. Pushing herself onto shaky legs, she finally stood up, and found the metang snoozing on the ground.

A weak, but confident grin grew across the ivysaur's face. "You know what to do, Aspen," she heard Pixen say behind her, and she did indeed know what to do. The pink color of her bulb taking on a more golden hue, the ivysaur focused her energy towards the plant on her back and sent a white beam of light towards the busted ceiling. Where the light shone on the warehouse's ceiling, what appeared to be a small sun began to grow, like a flower itself, planted amongst the vines and creepers. While the warmth of the fake sun wasn't nearly as strong as the earth's true sun, it was at least strong enough to power her next attack.

As soon as the sun was in place, Aspen shifted her booty up once more. Her bulb now glowing more white than gold, it opened slightly, to release another beam, this time one of energy instead of light, and faintly green in color as it traveled to Hegane.

Zeus made an amused noise, watching as Hagane continued snoozing on the ground, despite being sapped. Sleep powder was a hell of a drug... maybe he should look into that as a sleep ai- no that was a bad idea for several reasons. Zeus just continued watching the battle, hands tucked in his pockets and his head tilted as the light filled the arena... then Hagane was blasted once again... then sapped... and he was still asleep. At this point, Zeus just laughed at his Pokemon. He didn't seem too injured yet from the beatings he was catching, so he didn't have need to worry yet. He still had several Pokemon at his back, and an angry Hagane would be annoying, but could be sated pretty easily. "How are you still asleep? You lazy egg." Solar beam was a hell of a move. Generally, the attack was so complicated for a pokemon's body to process that it needed an interval of rest afterwards, nearly paralyzing the pokemon who had used it. The attack would hit the opponent hard, but if it did not incapacitate them, it left the user in a state of vulnerability that could be the difference between a win or a loss. Trainer and pokemon needed to work together to strategize when to use such a move was appropriate.

Aspen was lucky enough to make a move that created a false sun above her, the energy of which could be utilized to ensure that solar beam did not sap her of all of her functions. The warmth of it beat down on her as her bulb closed, cutting off the beam of light that had radiated towards the metang in one straight shot. As the light dimmed, it became obvious to both pokemon and gym leader that the move had had little effect on the other pokemon. The ivysaur drew in a deep breath, which was mirrored just slightly by her trainer. Never, in her history of battling, had Aspen met a pokemon who could withstand the attack so well.

Just as her confidence took a dive, a cool, refreshing wave or energy hit her, spreading up from her limbs to her body, to her head, and even to the very tip of the bulb on her back. The leech seed was doing its job, even as the other pokemon slept, and while it didn't exactly give her the confidence boost she needed, it at least calmed the shakiness in her legs.

"Try razor leaf this time," Pixen suggested, although Aspen was able to connect the dots in her tone, word choice, and even rhythm of speaking to decipher what exactly she wanted the pokemon to do. Anyone who had decided that pokemon weren't intelligent had never met Pixen's.

With a cry that reflected her frustrated feelings, the ivysaur opened her bulb, basked in the warmth of the false sun, and shot another solar beam towards the psychic type.

Zeus shifted his weight and let out a long, drawn out yawn, watching as his Metang finally got his shit together and shook off the sleep. Nice. Just in time to get blasted by another Solar Beam, Zeus lazily holding his hands in his hoodie pocket, shifting his weight onto a single hip. "Please, Hagane. You're a higher level, set an example." He spoke common before switching gears once again. It was time to finish this. Zeus did feel a pang of guilt for coming in so over leveled, but this was Zeus, and very very rarely did he ever actually do anything without his main team with him. They've been through hell with him. "Light Screen and follow it up with Psychic!" Zeus commanded, his weight still shifted onto one leg, a lax demeanor about him despite shouting the commands. A protective screen covered the Metang, and at the end of his focus, the strange metal pokemon re-focused and sent a large psychic wave directly for the Ivysaur, the distortion washing over the field. As the light from the attack dissipated, the ivysaur stared at the metang, hoping for a more prominent effect than the solar beam had made last time. Instead, she found that the robot had woken up, and even worse, was barely worse than he had been before her last attack. Neither trainer or pokemon reacted to the snide comment from Zeus, Aspen being too busy trying to figure out a new strategy, while Pixen was choosing not to react so as not to encourage him.

When he called out his commands, the ivysaur grunted defiantly and stomped her foot one last time, as if to tell them that even if she went down, she'd go down fighting. As the psychic energy washed over the field, Pixen closed her eyes and readied the pokeball in her hand, knowing that the ivysaur, in this state, had no chance of dodging. When she heard the thump of her pokemon's body hitting the ground, she opened her eyes and held the ball out, pulling Aspen back.

Well, shit. The two pokemon who she had left were both weak to psychic types, although she was sure that it didn't matter all that much in that if she had a pokemon who was strong against them, he'd like just switch out for another of his pokemon. Maybe he still would, but she wasn't sure that it mattered. After a moment, she plucked a ball off of her belt, choosing the one she felt had potential to at least do some damage. Tossing it in the air, she shouted her commands. "Curse and lick!"

At first, nothing appeared where the red zap of light had landed. It was higher up, in the air, suggesting a pokemon who could fly or float, however nothing was there. Pixen was silent and still for a moment, before her pokemon finally showed up, less than a foot in front of the metang. The haunter had a nasty expression on its face, its eyes glowing purple as it released a circle of energy at the metang.

Zeus's shoulders both moved back, his chest sticking out as he stretched his upper back and resettled his feet into a comfortable position. He wasn't much for fidgeting, but he had realized that his legs had been relatively still through this entire battle and well, he had bad joints. His knees creaked as he bent them back, one at a time while keeping straight posture, one of them popping loudly. Oof. He was getting old. After she had picked her Pokemon though, Zeus squinted through the flashing lights, watching as the harsh glare and the blinking took hold on Hagane. Trapped and Confused. "I would shame you again but I doubt you'd understand what I'm saying..." Zeus jabbed at his Pokemon, shoulders bouncing in a laugh, his mouth turned upwards and at least one of his canines showing in a smirk. "Stupid does nothing." Zeus started chuckling to his self a little harder, clearing his throat quickly and pushing the childish jokes off to the side. "Ah well. At least the weather is lovely." He commented mostly to his self, watching as Hagane shook his 'head'. "Come on buddy. Shake it off." He eventually encouraged, but was forced to wait until Pixen did something else, and this confusion wore off. He had faith in Hagane though. He'd likely survive until the end of the onslaught, and it wasn't like he was bored per say. He just didn't take alot of things as seriously as he should at times... "Lovely indeed," Pixen said under her breath as Zeus spoke of the weather, knowing she hadn't been expected to reply. She was talking as much to herself as Zeus was to himself. Where his comment was carefree, however, hers rang with irony. She wasn't in a proper state of mind to enjoy the sunlight. She was digging her fingernails into the meat of her palm, watching one after another of her strongest pokemon go down for the count and, perhaps worst of all, enduring this boorish's man offhanded jokes and remarks. Zeus might not mean any disrespect, but Pixen certainly didn't see it that way. She drew faint lines of blood from her hand, smiling all the while.

Sleeping powders, confuse rays—Pixen didn't like to rely on such tactics, but they were good for taking an opponent down a notch or two. "Put it to sleep, then lick again," she called out to her haunter, who was shaking her head. For a single stunned moment she thought that Iris intended to disobey her, but then she remembered that none of her pokemon would ever dare to do so. Iris was just imitating the metang's disoriented movements, a self-satisfied grin splayed across her face.

Pixen suppressed a sigh. Zeus wasn't the only one here who didn't take things as seriously as they should.

Despite her antics, Iris snapped to attention as soon as she registered Pixen's hidden command. She circled behind her opponent, dipping in and out of the various shadows made darker by the false sunlight. For a long moment, she seemed to dissapear. Then she emerged from behind Hagane with a floating hand curled into a fist, aiming it right at one of the metang's eyes.
