This post serves to clarify how we handle away messages regarding both activity checks and missions. Activity Checks Away messages that were from the last activity check or before are void. We have activity checks twice a year - once during the summer, and once during the winter. That means if your away message was posted before or during the last activity check, it will be ignored in regards to future activity checks, regardless of the reasoning. The only exception to this is if a specific return date was given - ie "I'm going to do a missionary job in Africa for a year, I'll check in when I get back summer/fall of 2031." Once that date is past, it becomes void for the next activity check.
Missions Away messages that were from before the last activity check are void. Again, our activity checks occur twice a year, once in the summer and once in the winter. We will take into consideration if your away message was posted directly before an activity check, and your mission met its deadline directly after the same activity check. However, if it has been several weeks since that activity check, your away message will still be void. The safest option to take care of your missions if your activity is waning is to make sure your away message stays current. If an away message is current, it can go one of two ways and will be up to staff discretion - 1) Away messages for things such as mental/physical health, new living arrangements leading to lack of internet, emergency family health, and other such major problems will allow members to not need to post in the activity check, and will excuse members from missing their mission deadlines. For example, if I post an away message stating that my mother is in the hospital and I'm traveling back and forth every day, I will not need to post in the activity check, and my missions may safely go past their deadlines. However, please keep in mind that once the next activity check comes around, that away message will be void.
2) Away messages for things such as sports, school, work, etc do NOT count for activity checks unless a member has discussed it with the the staff directly as well as recently, and the staff agrees that there is reason for the member to be unable to post in the activity check. For example, if I post an away message stating that I have baseball every day after school so my activity will be spotty, I WILL need to still post in the activity check, or at the very least discuss it with the staff. Please keep in mind that the current staff team consists of members with experience in the teaching field - we understand that things get busy and activity might drop during the school year! If you are a student (or a fellow teacher) please do not hesitate to come forward about your activity. We'd rather you be open and honest about your activity during the school year than feel like you're being punished for real life getting a little hectic. If a member habitually posts in activity checks while remaining largely inactive, their information will be removed from the site directories and their accounts/PCs will be locked (and thus unhackable) and moved into their relevant archives boards. Their account/money will remain as is. While this does not prevent members from taking your faceclaim while you're gone, it does ensure the safety of your account and PCs. The staff will do their best to discuss this privately with the member. If there are ANY questions or if anything needs clarified, please feel free to message jello, @mabel, or @scooter here or on discord!
