RYDER JAY REEVES.
THE ROBIN HOOD POKEMON
AGE | GENDER | ALLEGIANCE | OCCUPATION |
TWENTY-EIGHT | MALE | RESISTANCE | VETERINARIAN |
APPEARANCE
Ryder is a tall, handsome man with broad shoulders and a muscular frame. He has lightly-tanned skin that burns easily, giving him a rosy tint to his nose and cheeks. A faded scar runs over the bridge of his nose, which is small in comparison to the rest of his features. He has a long, angular face and a strong jaw, and he prefers to keep himself clean-shaven. His wide mouth is almost always pulled into a friendly smile, and his almond-shaped eyes are a warm shade of brown. Black, rectangular glasses frame his narrow eyes, and he has bushy but well-groomed eyebrows.
Ryder’s dark brown hair is thick and luxurious, though it can be fairly unruly when it gets too long. To combat this, Ryder tends to keep it shaved into an undercut. He leaves some length on his bangs, which he likes to dye different colors, though his go-to is bleach white. His ears are on the larger end of normal, and they stick out a bit from the sides of his head.
Ryder tends to dress casually. He generally wears fitted t-shirts and a loose cardigan paired with dark wash jeans and comfortable shoes. His favorite season is fall, as he loves layers.

PERSONALITY
POSITIVE - Charismatic - Selfless - Honest - Kind - Ambitious NEGATIVE - Reckless - Idealistic - Overprotective - Proud - Clueless | Ryder is an honest, good-hearted man who fights for the protection and wellbeing of others. Though his family was wealthy, Ryder was always taught to do unto others as he would have them do unto him, and that humility is a virtue. As a result, Ryder grew up to be selfless to a fault. He is always willing to help those in need, and will gladly lay himself on the line to protect those he cares about. Overall, he strives to improve not just the lives of individuals, but society as a whole. Ryder is incredibly charismatic, as people are naturally drawn to his friendly attitude and benevolent nature. Because he cares so easily for others, Ryder is able to form strong bonds quickly, and has a bad habit of getting emotionally invested in others’ struggles. However, he believes that his time, attention, and resources should be divided equally among those in need, so he often prevents himself from getting deeply involved with any one person. Through the years, Ryder’s become confident in his ability to handle tough situations and navigate sensitive subjects. In this sense, he can be very proud, as he strongly believes that he can overcome any obstacle. He tends to be reckless in his pursuit to save others, ignoring his own limitations and often putting himself in danger to protect the innocent. He can also be fairly unrealistic in his goals, though he’ll genuinely put his all into anything he sets his mind to. Ryder is also a very headstrong individual who can sometimes be clueless to the affections of those around him. He’s unknowingly left a trail of broken hearts, and continues to be extremely dense when someone tries to flirt with him. Though he’s not aware of it, he uses his intense desire to help others as a coping mechanism, and thus gets anxious and defensive when anyone tries to flip the switch and help him instead. |
BACKGROUND
Ryder J. Reeves was born into a small, wealthy family on July 24th, 1990. His mother, Miranda, was a successful veterinarian and sole recipient to her family’s fortune, while his father, William, was an accomplished carpenter who owned a large bit of property on the outskirts of Eve City. Soon after they got married, the Reeves used their considerable wealth to build a free clinic beside their home outside the city. They were committed to providing adequate healthcare for both wild and domesticated pokémon alike, and only accepted small donations for their work.
Ryder grew up helping out around the clinic and socializing pokémon who had been abused or abandoned by their trainers. From a very young age, his parents instilled in him a strong sense of altruism, and he was raised to believe that all life was precious and equally important. Though his grades and athletics were fairly average, Ryder was well known and highly admired at school for his charismatic personality and general kindness. He was particularly popular with his female classmates, though he rarely let any of them get close to him. His top priority was always his family’s business, and he put all of his energy and time into running the clinic with his parents, especially when rumors of R.O.T. began to surface.
As the years passed, the Reeves began to see more and more cases of what they could only assume to be R.O.T., and were forced to operate underground lest they be apprehended or killed by Plasma. The disease was difficult if not impossible to treat, and their small clinic turned into a hospice as they tried to keep the inflicted pokémon as healthy and comfortable as possible. Throughout the years, Ryder’s mother did everything in her power to find a cure for the disease, but it was just months before the Bloody Eve Massacre that she fell sick with the same symptoms she’d been trying to treat.
Ryder’s mother died before she saw the destruction of Eve City and the abolition of pokémon ownership. Without a veterinarian to treat the sick and the injured, Ryder and his father were powerless to help the pokémon in their care. His father fell into a debilitating depression, but Ryder was determined to not let his mother’s legacy fall. After the initial upset of the Bloody Eve Massacre, Ryder reopened the clinic as a refuge for pokémon at risk of being poached, and he and his father were able to provide a safe haven for those who could not protect their companions from Plasma.
Ryder stayed with his father for six years after his mother’s death, and together they worked to find any means that would ensure the safety of their shelter. When Ryder was 24, his father encouraged him to return to school and get a veterinary degree like his mother, and Ryder jumped at the chance to follow in his mother’s footsteps. He left for college soon after, and made sure to come back and visit at every opportunity he had.
Towards the end of his third year, Ryder returned home to find the shelter in ruins. The windows had been shattered, all of the enclosures destroyed, and every last door and drawer was broken and emptied. There wasn’t a single pokémon in sight, and his father was nowhere to be found. Ryder instantly knew who was to blame, and in his rage he declared war on Plasma. He promptly dropped out of college and turned to the Resistance, where he resolved to not only make Plasma pay for what they had done, but to also find and return all the pokémon that they had stolen from the innocent.
Edit: After his interaction with Coryn, Ryder has decided to carry out his mission on his own.
