I hope you enjoyed my little pranks yesterday! I had a lot of fun planning them. I'll keep the bees skin up, but I will not be updating it. SO if you would like to have updates, PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE make sure you are not using that skin 24/7.

Well, Anrui, I officially present to you my first skin made specifically for our site! It's called HOW BOUT YOURS. You can find it in your profile > edit profile > settings > forum theme. You are more than welcome to choose between this one, BRAVE NEW WORLD, and reborn. The inverted reborn skin will be removed since we now have an actually-functioning dark skin.

I would like to know what you think about the skin! What do you like about it? What do you love about it? What do you dislike about it? What do you hate about it? PLEASE the more feedback, the better. I will not get offended if you have anything negative to say - how else will I learn what Anrui wants, after all? I may or may not change the skin based on your feedback, but I will certainly keep it in mind for the next skin I make (probably around the summer time).

Likewise, if you have any issues with the skin - you can't read something or something isn't showing up - please tell me! Things that inhibit you from using the site are things that I want need to know about so that I can fix them. Screenshots are usually very helpful, and also let me know which browser you're using, especially if it's different than chrome. (Screen resolution would be wonderful as well). I've been beta-testing this skin for about a week or so and have edited a few templates and whatnot, but please let me know if I missed anything!

please tag @ jello with any questions, concerns, or comments! This will be made an announcement for about a month or so, but after that any members (new or old) are welcome to still chime in. Like I said, I want feedback from anyone.

new mini-profile fields

in our new mini-profile, you have three more fields to fill in. You can find these in your profile > edit profile > personal.

As with the other skin, you have your application link and your pc link. These two links are necessary - please fill them in if you haven't already! I also added in a link for your plotter. This one isn't necessary, and it won't effect the mini-profiles on any of the other skins.

The other two fields work together. Where it says "Your Choice Link" you can enter in any link you choose - on site or off site (please keep it appropriate though). Where it says "Your Choice Name" you can enter in what you want that link to be labeled as. I recommend keeping it short, i.e. "shop" "music" "email" etc. If you have any questions about this, please let me know!

mobile

i have had on and off success with this skin on mobile. I have an iphone 6s and I use chrome as a browser. At first, I couldn't get the main hover up at the top to work (which is why I have those links outside of it). Now that I've played with it a bunch, they work just fine. The only other issue I can find is that when you create a thread, it makes the forum width much smaller... I might be sending in an ask to support about that bc I have no idea why it would only do it then.

I also have a droid tablet, which I use chrome on. I can actually get the hovers working perfectly and without issue. However I still have issues with creating a new thread.

If you share any of these issues, let me know. If you have other issues, let me know!

so as you can see, I went ahead and put a poll up for this thread. It doesn't expire so you can vote at any time. basically, I never really feel my skins are good enough to use as a default skin, but I also know that I'm very critical when it comes to my own stuff. so I figured I'd let y'all decide.

some things to consider when you're voting:

• this is the first thing guests - potential members - see;
• is it aesthetically pleasing?
• does it relate to the theme/feel of the site?
• is it functional?
• does it function on mobile?
• does it give off a good first impression?

If there's something else you think we should think about before voting, feel free to add that in as well! reborn is not an option for voting, as that is a skin that I made for the new mysste and just reworked for anrui as well.

Jello bby I love your skin it is gorgeous but my old ancient eyes generally see better on light skins which is the only reason I voted the way I did.

I'd like to see a skin where the white wasn't so brilliant and across-the-board and also maybe the cbox in a fixed position on the sidebar so that members don't have to scroll to find the beedaboop.

I feel like maybe the skin could use a few more options, though the default skin is perfectly fine, in my opinion. Having options for change is good, though, if someone doesn't like this one. -shrug-

lol whoever voted neither skin for default is not contributing. I suppose that's what I get for putting it in there tho.

@elf I think my next skin will be one that is a "light" skin but not WHITEWHITEWHITEEVERYTHINGISWHITE so you might like that one better :3 fixed cbox seems to be a common thing so I'll look into that! fun fact, I didn't think I read better on the dark skin either till I tested it for a week and a half and now it hurts to look at hata's beautiful one u.u

@alexandernguyen do you prefer cbox on the side like in a sidebar? Or fixed, as in it scrolls with you so it's never out of site? Do you mean darker than this skin? Or just dark in general, like this skin, with the dark background and light text?

@shonkey would you mind clarifying what you mean by options? And I agree. My goal is to get us enough skins that everyone will be able to find at least ONE that they like.

Before I vote (this is actually gonna influence my decision) I'd like to point out a few things about the new skin.

I love that the hover banner has all the criteria found in the clickables on BNW. The images are big and loud, making it a key component for grabbing the attention for a potential new member.

As for my own eyes, I don't really struggle to see anything; the gray is dark enough so that other things stand out, but just light enough so that I can see everything clearly.

On the profile page, I like how the minis are set-up; I can see a bit more customization in terms of user and character personality via Your Choice X's. If there's a song that explains our character, or even a 10 second bit of dialogue, it would get that point across.

I hardly use mobile other than to check if any of my threads have been replied to, and I have an app icon that takes me right to the cbox, so that I don't have to hit up the navigation menu and scroll (which isn't a big problem).

On the topic of the cbox, I agree with Elf and Fig. If we could have the cbox on the side somewhere - maybe make the main body a bit smaller - and have it follow where we scroll, it would keep communication up there as opposed to right-clicking refresh and having a tab open JUST for the cbox.

I love BNW, but it doesn't fit the overall theme of war in Anrui. HBY does seem chaotic and bleak, as if smoke is rising up from a battlefield, and I love that.

So, there's my quarter and change. Also, you might wanna add a link to our discord near quick links

@faceless thank you for your comments! they're super helpful. fixed cbox seems to be a common denominator these days, so i'll definitely add that into the next skin ^^

jello Oh no, I definitely see better on it in the normal monochromatic scheme than I do on this one, but I don't see the colored fonts as well on general principal.

so it looks like so far the majority is for HBY becoming default. I'll go ahead and change it then - remember, if you like BNW or even reborn better, you can always switch it in your profile > edit profile > settings.
