APPEARANCE
Mahina has a tan skin and a somewhat athletic build from her walking, jogging, and climbing in her life. She has a short, black bob cut hair that goes to her chin with her bangs swept to the right side of her face. She doesn't usually wear hats but when she does she tends to wear her favorite red hat with three little poms on the end of it. Her eyes are grayish in color and don't really seem to stand out too much at all. Mahina stands about five foot six and is of average weight. Her clothing styles varies alot but at the current moment all she has are her green shorts and beige flora shirt with black shoes.
As she does obtain more clothing though Mahina will be partial to tank tops and shorts as she feels more comfort in those type of clothing. When winter comes and she is able too, she will probably be seen wearing leggings and long floral skirts with her tank top with some kind of winter coat. The girl is not at all prepared for the cold and she seems to expect every rain to be a little bit warm so she is very much out of her comfort zone here and it is plain to see she is from another region.
Mahina does have some scars on her hands and even her feet from many different things she has done to help people and that is pretty much it. Often times her hair isn't kept and her clothes don't seem to be all that tidy.

PERSONALITY
POSITIVE - Optimisitc - Caring - Protective - Strong-Willed - Family-oriented NEGATIVE - Stubborn - Too Trusting - Easily Vexed - Too Forgiving - Emotional (mainly stress) | Mahina is a very family oriented girl who loves spending time with her pokemon, family, or of course friends; any one she meets almost seems to be in her family ring instantaneously. She calls everyone either brother, sister, or cousins and those older in age and those who she views as a role model often are called aunt, uncle, grandmother, or grandfather. Mahina doesn't call anyone mother or father except for her actual parents. It is because of this trait she has a serious downfall in a way; because she views everyone as family she is too trusting of others and can be too kind to people that don't first show her kindness. She is usually very cheerful and extremely forgiving however she can be easily vexed about certain things. Mahina doesn't approve of people taking others pokemon and since she views everyone as family, she will do anything with in her abilities to make sure they get their pokemon back and to teach others not to take pokemon from others while immediately apologizing for being unkind and even rude to them in the process. When she has a goal set in mind she will follow though to the end no matter what, making her very strong-willed but also very, very stubborn and even one tracked mind. There are many, many things that Mahina doesn't agree with in the world that is presented to her nearly everyday while in Anrui and there have been several times where the girl has broken down because of the stress and she has fallen into stress induced depression and just not really feeling her self. There are days where she finds it difficult to get out of bed but her closest friends always seem to find a way to coax her out and it is being with them and her pokemon that makes her feel a bit better. Her father's death before coming to Anrui was one of the things that didn't help with the stress now and why she has been taking it upon her self to work harder to keep her mind off of things; if the death of a parent is brought up, or death in general she gets very emotional. Ontop of that the girl actually takes a lot of things to heart and will often bottle them up while in puplic but while alone and in private she breaks down. |
BACKGROUND
Mahina Kaʻanāʻanā was born in the Alola region and grew up with the familarity of the islands and its customs. While she was younger she was fascinated by the trials of the islands and dreamed of setting out on them on her own. As she grew older Mahina played with the younger generation of her father and mother's pokemon and when she turned eleven she was set on her way to complete the Island Trials with the pokemon she grew up with. Her father was with her most of the time and Mahina was having a blast and enjoying the trials and the journey. However there was some 'pokemon trainers' stealing pokemon from others and when one of her friends she made on her journey lost one of their pokemon she became very very angry and even frustrated and she went and retrived the pokemon back, apologizing to those she had to fight to get to the poor thing.
As she finished the trials and as she helped those around her protect their family of friends and pokemon, Mahina heard of even more grander trials in other regions and decide to prepare to set out on those when she got older, but first she wanted to train and expand her own pokemon and even breed so she could take her younger generation with her, almost starting new. Between the trials and the breeding, she reached age fifteen, but she felt like she wasn't ready yet and she was nervous. While out helping some people out with her father and gathering more pokemon for her team, there was an accident. While they were climbing one of the mountains in the Alola region, a bus that was the usual transport other than walking wasn't set to parking and wasn't stable. It was bumped into while a thief was stealing some pokemon and it began to roll down the mountain road out of control. Mahina's father had pushed her into safety and he was hit. He didn't survive and the thief was caught.
Everything stopped for Mahina. She put a hold on her dream of a bigger adventure and she broke down. The happy little girl became severally depressed and it took a lot of her friends, their pokemon, and her pokemon to make her feel any better about the incident. As she finally got back to what might be considered her old self, she started to once again help people get their pokemon back from thieves and to help others with what ever she can. She was working hard and she barely slept and the stress kept piling on until she finally broke down again. She had been to therapists to help her recover from what happened and about five years later she hadn't made much recovery. It was around this time that Mahina's mother started to try and convince the girl to go on her grand journey like her father wanted and that perhaps she will found her self again as she is losing a bit of her self and that perhaps she could learn more while in new regions. It took her mother two more years to finally convince the girl and once Mahina got her team up once again she was off.
As she said her final good byes to everyone she went to the docks and got on the ship...but there was a problem. Mahina had gotten on the wrong ship. When she thought this ship was going to Kanto where she would first start, this ship was actually going to a region she hadn't heard much about, and that was to Anrui. While on the ship she hadn't learned much of this region still so she decided she was going to learn more about it as soon as she got the chance. Once she got off the boat however.....everything she had to her name was stolen. Her pokemon, her money, everything that she had in her bag was taken from her and she never figured out who took her things and no one showed interest in helping her. Once she learned more of the region in what little time she had she realized what a grave mistake she made and she had no way of going back or to another region after everything.
