khatijah amir kareem al-malika.
THE BURGALAR POKEMON
AGE | GENDER | ALLEGIANCE | OCCUPATION |
TWENTY ONE. | FEMALE. | NEUTRAL | BURGLAR |
APPEARANCE
She looks like a mermaid,
Khatijah is tall and lean. Having sprouted up at a young age, she is used to looking down on those around her. She stands at 5'11 and weighs approximately 150 pounds, give or take. The bulk of her weight stems from her muscle mass, gained by her years as a track athlete and as a fighter. Her bone structure does give her some curves, although they aren't anything that she feels she can boast about.
Her most striking feature is her hair. Despite being dark brown to black naturally, it is dyed dark green in color. Originally she was going for a brighter shade, however the hairdresser underestimated how difficult it would be to get the color to stick. Luckily, Khat liked how it turned out, and she's stuck with it ever since. Her hair is long, and she typically straightens it. Only occasionally does she let her natural curl come through. Due to the bleaching and straightening, she goes through extra lengths to try to keep her hair as healthy as it can be in this state.
Her eyes are a deep shade of purple, which are usually mistaken for black, or even brown. She likes to wear make up, experimenting with different eye shadows, eye liners, lipsticks, and foundations. Her dark eyebrows are on point 99% of the time. Having been raised in Anrui, she's used to and prefers the heat, and isn't much of a sweater. Even when she's training, she's still known to wear a bit of foundation and mascara, with some setting spray to help keep it in place. Resting bitch face is a thing with her, although she wouldn't call it a problem.
She got her facial structure and body type from her mom, but she got her hair and her skin tone from her father. By the time the end of winter rolls around, she usually begins to start paling, but she always remains more on the tanner side of the spectrum. During the rest of the year, the sun kisses her skin and she becomes much darker.
Her sense of fashion could be described as vogue. The only time that she is seen in anything even resembling just a t-shirt and shorts is when she is training, and even then she's more likely to be wearing legitimate work out material. She fancies long dresses and expensive jewelry, but she knows that is not always the most optimal wear for her situation. Even so, she'll often drag some of the boys to fancier events, just so that she has a chance to dress up. When she is doing a job, she wears all black and pulls her hair up in a tight bun to hide under a hat or a hood.
She can sometimes be seen with a large metal staff. This staff is essentially what got her kicked out of her first martial arts class, and she carries it with pride. There is a heart shape on top, with several jewels, and parts of it jut out similar to a key. She usually only has it with her on jobs, and uses it as an extension of her arm to grab, reach, or pull. Don't fuck with the stick though - it might look girly, but that metal won't feel good when it comes in contact with your head behind the force of 150 pounds of angry woman.

PERSONALITY
POSITIVE - adventurous - ambitious - athletic - faithful - border-line minimalist/spartanist NEGATIVE - undisciplined - rude - irritable - kleptomaniac - impatient | But she acts like a siren. 99.9% of the world will never come across the true Khatijah. In order to get to know her, either she must like you a lot, or you must be able to tolerate her hard and spoiled outer personality regardless of how much shit she throws at you in order to try to get you to leave her the fuck alone until she finally decides that you're worthy of being her friend. Most people, including some of her "brothers," only see her as the spoiled rich kid that her history boasts. She's rude, self-centered, and will only tolerate your presence if she thinks that you can benefit her in some way. She won't hold a kind or even neutral conversation with you without belittling or insulting you at least once, and she is incredibly impatient with anyone whom she doesn't find interesting. Sarcasm and disdain drip from her vocabulary, and overall she is simply an incredibly unpleasant person to be around. That being said, once you get to know her she isn't... much better. It's once she decides she wants to get to know you that you might find that she's not that bad of a person. She is loyal to those whom she befriends. Once she begins to open up to you, you'll find that she is very willing to do things for you (as long as it doesn't trouble her too much, and especially if it also benefits her), and she is perfectly willing to have a conversation or otherwise interact with you. In fact, some people even say that she can be even a little bit funny. She truly does care for the few people she likes, and she enjoys seeing them happy. She enjoys doing things that give her a thrill. She will be first in line to sit in the front or back seat of a brand new roller coaster, or to do something such as skydiving or rock climbing. She has enough energy that even with the regular exercise she does to keep in shape, she still has a large amount of energy built up. She uses adrenaline to deplete this energy, and typically does so by thieving. Usually she only takes what she's been assigned, but every now and then she'll go out on her own or take a little extra. If the Boss isn't interested in her extras, she usually gives whatever it is to one of the less-privileged members of the group to sell off on the black market or pawn at a pawn shop. Growing up, she had access to whatever she wanted and found that she actually didn't want any of it. The only things she hoards are nice clothes and jewelry, and even then it's only what she can haul on her back. |
BACKGROUND
She was raised to be the queen of diamonds but became a queen of thieves.
Khat's family is, to put it bluntly, loaded. Her mother comes from a long line of politicians who are quite far up in the chain of Plasma, while her father comes from a long line of doctors. While her father took after his father before him and became a surgeon, her mother decided to try her hand (successfully) at dentistry. Put these two careers together with a rich family history and you're made in the shade money-wise, although not always family-wise. The dynamic between her, her younger brother, and her parents was not always the best mostly because the children saw more of their nannies than they did their parents.
Things weren't completely terrible, though, until they turned in their Pokemon. The family had a swablu and a skiploom, both of whom Khat was incredibly close to. Her and her brother could pretend to have battles, they could chase them, wrestle with them, play with them... Until she was eight and he was six, and training became illegal. Their parents, concerned about their status and how the ownership of Pokemon could effect the reputation of both families, willingly turned theirs into Plasma authorities against the cries of their children. Without a way to disperse her extra energy that her parents hadn't realized she had when she had a Pokemon to chase all day, combined with the emotional effects of losing her Pokemon, Khat became a literal terror.
She was supposed to be raised to reflect the nobility of her family. Both sides were respected in Anrui, and her parents hoped her and her brother would carry on their reputation. Within a year of giving away their Pokemon, however, they realized that wouldn't happen if things continued the way they were going. She had high energy, she had anger problems, and she was violent towards their nannies when she didn't get what she wanted. After the fourth nanny quit, her parents enrolled her in Tahtib - an ancient Egyptian style of stick fighting - in an effort to dispel some anger and energy.
To this day her parents still aren't sure how she got a hold of the metal stick she brought to class, but after attempting to beat the instructor over the head with it, they kindly asked her parents not to bring her back. Despite her violence, she seemed to be positively interested in stick fighting, so they enrolled her in a bojutsu class, hoping that would be more her speed. It was, and she excelled, becoming one of the top fighters in her age range. In high school, she joined her schools track and field team also, hoping to improve her cardio for when she fought.
Although taking part in bojutsu did give her a means to channel her anger, it did not help her with her attitude. She was given the impression at a young age that she could do whatever she wanted, and that carried on into her teen years. At the age of sixteen, she began dating the local trouble-maker of the town, who eventually introduced her to a group called The Black Arbok. On the surface, they were a group of thieves and all around trouble makers who traveled around anrui, never staying anywhere for very long. Her boyfriend was attempting to get in with this gang, and brought her along for the ride.
Ironically, they didn't like him, but she got to stick around with them. Seeing an opportunity to get a thrill, she officially joined them and ran away a few weeks before her eighteenth birthday, leaving her parents and her boyfriend behind without a word.
Considering their financial position, her parents had all means necessary to find their daughter. After all, how hard could it be to find a traveling gang of thieves? However, they knew it was just a few weeks before they officially could not try to control her anymore, and they knew she would only cause them hell if they forced her to come back. they did what was necessary for the approval of the public eye, and then put an end to the search, knowing if she wanted to come back, she would.
This gang is not like what one would think of as a typical gang. While on the outside they appear to be rough and tough hooligans, they actually each have a reason for joining. Some of them, such as Khat, seek the thrill of thieving; some are looking to get rich quickly; some joined at a young age, and don't know anything better. For whatever reason, once someone is accepted they are welcomed with open arms by every member, as though they are in a brotherhood. Not only is there a lot of trust in this gang, but there is a lot of teamwork also, which Khat has an... Interesting... Time with. Make no mistake, though, she is not one of the boys. They know who she is and her place in society, and for the most part they respect her and her feminine habits, knowing full well she could fuck any of them up, and that she was there because she wanted to be, not because she had to be. Although she is originally from Ansen, the nomadic gang has several places they tend to hole up throughout the country, and are never in one place for more than a week.
Most citizens believe that The Black Arbok is just a group of trouble-makers who do whatever they want and take whatever they want. This assumption is only partially true. The gang takes orders via a chain of command. Their Boss is nameless and faceless - only a few of the higher up members have ever seen his face or heard his voice. It is rumored that there are multiple, separate or even rival gangs that their boss commands, however they have no way of proving it. The higher up members don't travel with the gang and rarely make physical, in-person contact with them. The Boss distributes assignments to the higher ups, who then distribute the assignment through a small chain until it reaches the "leader" of The Black Arbok. This leader (name to be decided/kept open in case someone wants to play him) travels with them, decides where they go next based on assignments, etc.
It is, essentially, your choice whether or not you want to complete an assignment. If you complete it, you hand over whatever you stole (or for the rare occasions where it wasn't thievery, general proof that you completed your assignment), and you are given a reward. If you choose to keep what you stole, fail the assignment, or simply choose not to do it, you are simply not given your reward and eventually the assignment will be cycled out to someone else. It is rumored, however, that if you ignore too many assignments, the Boss will become displeased, and you do not want him to be displeased with you. How you complete the assignment and whether or not you take more than you were asked for is completely up to you. What you do when you're not on an assignment is also up to you.
