II. THE ISLAND

[atrb=border,0,true] History It all started with a rumor, the rumor of a strange and frightening condition that was infecting the pokemon of anrui. The condition, known for short as R.O.T, had a wide range of symptoms: from coughing to aggression, fever to mutation, migraines to death. Though originally dispelled as a rumor, slowly but surely, more and more evidence was coming up supporting the fear of this condition. People were starting to become frightened, there was no cure in sight and it was only a matter of time before the disease began to spread to humans. This was when the plasma party showed up. They had a plan. They had a cure. They even had the support of the island's Professor, Ava. People flocked to the party and in the next election cycle, Mr. Cain was made president. Only a few days later Professor Ava was charged for crimes against humanity, accused of destroying the cure for R.O.T. She called such accusations absurd and what’s more? She said R.O.T. itself was fake, merely a rumor started by plasma for an easy road to power. The accusations split the island, though it was the arrival of Ava’s assistants, whom, during majority of the R.O.T. scare, had been out on a multi-year expedition through the anrui wild lands, that ultimately condemned the woman. Though they tried to defend the professor, in the end they could only confirm that a disease very similar to R.O.T. was running rampant in the wilds. Ava was arrested, Jasper, the assistant responsible of reporting Ava, was given her place as official pokemon professor. Though the situation was far from settled, the cure was, after all destroyed, and to make matters worse, a human case of ROT was reported. As the cases grew more and more frequent, panic spread throughout the region. Anything related to pokemon was made illegal and almost anyone who had extensive contact with the creatures were killed. Purges such as these lasted for a good five years, only escalating when some civilians, whom sensed a conspiracy, began to riot. Five years later was the Bloody Eve Massacre, in which the rebellious city of Eve was decimated by plasma. The very next day professor Ava was broken out of prison. Plasma called a state of emergency and the entire island, barring Hyo, isolated itself from the rest of the pokeworld. It’s been about a decade and the island has rotted. Ava Labs moved to new location. » Year 13: Jasper recovers from assassination attempt. He and Antoinette assume co-professor leadeship. » Year 13: Bombing of St. Jaspers' Ball. Kain City temporarily under Resistance control. » Year 15: Kain City Riots. After two years of abysmal conditions, the citizens clear the way for Plasma to regain control of Kain.

[atrb=border,0,true] The Resistance The resistance are the force that's been against Plasma from the very start to the bitter end. Of course, the group works towards eradicating Plasma's military rule over the Anrui region and recently, recently they've been growing more and more radical. Most resistance members dream of being the ones to defeat the Plasma admins and to do that, they work their way through the underground gym challenge, gaining strength and experience. The Resistance is open to pretty much anyone - Though there are chances for one to be promoted to higher ranks depending on experience. » Resistance is open to anyone to join - As long as your character has the desire to defeat Plasma, you're in! » The resistance bases are scattered throughout Anrui, for roleplay sake, all bases can be found in this board. This is also where you will find the resistance labs. IC, Coryn's lab is stationed in HYO CITY though you can get your pokemon from other professors in other areas. The Plasma Party Plasma essentially governs the corrupted Anrui region. They're ruthless in their enforcement of their duties, killing Pokemon and brainwashing trainers if need be. Plasma is pretty much the law - They'll do anything to assert their control. Also, only members of Plasma are allowed to carry Pokemon - which is why people come to them and beg to join in order not to break the law. Many are turned down of course, and are taken into custody should they be found in possession of Pokemon. Their main goal is to enforce their control over Anrui by crushing the Resistance. » Plasma grunts must be at least 16 years of age. Anyone younger is considered an apprentice and is to do their work with a grunt (said grunt can be roleplayed by you as a pseudo-character). Other than that, they must be approved by the plasma professor Jasper Antoinette. For the most part, Jasper had been lenient with his approval, although now that Antoinette is in charge, you'll want to keep your wits about you if you want to join Plasma. » Plasma headquarters are stationed in EVE CITY, though for roleplay sake they can be found here. ( if you were wondering, anrui was created way before black and white - we are still keeping team plasma as our name, but not to be confused with the team plasma of unova. ) The Neutrals [style=width:390px; padding:5px; text-align:justify; font-family:verdana; line-height:10px; font-size:10px;] People that choose not to take sides exist. That's why we have neutral parties - They essentially fight for no specific cause, really. This number includes civilians whom do not own pokemon and people that do not mind working for both sides, such as the Hackers. Their allegiance may change, however.

The Anrui Region, despite it's size, is home to a number of wonderful and mysterious creatures known as Pokemon. Naturally, Pokemon are known to have unique traits in terms of coloration. This is not the case with Anrui, due to her own unique trait of a more tropical climate.

Nearly every kind of known species inhabits or migrates to the region, making this a popular tourist and vacation destination. Those who travel here find themselves awash with wonder when spotting a Pokemon of a different shade. Some have deliberated that Anrui is the birthplace of rare dimorphic Pokemon, but they end up leaving with an air of disbelief- Anrui's children are naturally born with such unique coloration.

Equinox and Solstice

A change in seasons means a change in what sleeps and awakens. Though the climate may seem perfect to some, the harsher seasons take a toll on the wildlife in every haunt. Rarely sighted Pokemon appear to be more common than usual, oftentimes coming out of hibernation or even preparing for it. During such a time, it is wise to make sure both eyes and ears are primed and ready.

Keep in mind that simple changes in weather have an effect as well.

The PokeDollar

The dollar is the basic currency of Anrui. You'll use it to buy useful things for your journey such as potions and eve pokemon and its earned at $15 a post. You can also earn money by selling things, winning events or occasionally in promos.

Collectables

Anrui has an item-upgrade system in which you can use certain items to upgrade others into cooler items! These items, primarily shards, gems and spheres, and bundles of parts, can be dug for in the underground labyrinth. As upgrading is a developing technology, currently you can mainly use it to make pokeballs and upgrade your pokevice.

FLORA ABOUND

So Many Berries!

Anrui's famous tropical climate is perfect for finding berries in many an area. However, not every location has the same berry. Due to shipments from around the globe, the island of Anrui has taken to growing their own berries that are otherwise not found through foraging. These special berries can only be obtained through the purchase of a Berry Pot from Gidgette.

Each Route will have a little segment featuring berries commonly found there. A Master List for every berry will appear here in due time. However, every known berry can be found somewhere in Anrui.

Herbs & Medicine

As with the berries, Anrui has special plants that can yield raw herbal medicine and other useful plant leaves, such as the Mental, Power, and White Herbs. These items will appear alongside the berries, but not all can be found on one route.
