[attr=class,apptitle]APPEARANCE
[attr=class,apptxt]HOMESTUCK - rose lalonde, [i]eldora carol chandler[/i]
The first thing she would mention, should she try and describe herself, is her mouth. Thin lips covered in black lipstick are often pulled into a grin, showing off the teeth she got braces for. If her mouth turns into anything less than an amused smile it shows that she’s very unhappy. On the other hand, the first thing people notice about her is her skin. She’s as pale as a ghost. Next they would notice her hair was white, and, if they were particularly perceptive, her violet eyes and come to a conclusion: she’s albino.
Being albino means she has a few eye problems. Too much light hurts her eyes, prompting her to wear prescription sunglasses. Annoyingly enough, bright colours seems to ’glow’ to her, making her unable to tell one bright colour from another. Along with this is the ability to see fine detail, almost as if she were looking at the world through a low-res camera. She counts herself lucky, knowing that others have far worse vision than she does.
She doesn’t let her abnormalities bother her. In fact, she’s embraced it. Eldora likes to think she looks a bit like a work of art. Skin as pale as possible, often with an elaborate black dress, and black lips, the only real colour coming from her eyes. This belief helps give her the motivation to coat herself in the most powerful sunscreen she can find each time she goes outside. Unfortunately, it also causes her to be out more often when it’s dark or raining; she prefers not wearing her glasses. Occasionally she wears clothes with some lavender on it, but rarely any other colour. While she’s rather fit her hips are a bit larger than she’d hope for.
When it comes to her features they’re not horrible. Her face is a little long, her eyes are a little far apart, and her jaw is a little sharp, but it’s really not anything to complain about. She hardly even notices most of the time, thanks to her being as light as she is. Besides, she doesn’t need to be beautiful to stand out in a crowd.

[attr=class,apptitle]PERSONALITY
[attr=class,apptxt]When one sees her they make snap judgements. Most people think she’s dark. They’re right. She’s heavily interested in the occult: tarot cards, Ouija boards, astrology, witchcraft and the like are things she practices often. She firmly believes in many supernatural things, including believing that she can see glimpses of the future.
Unsurprisingly, when considering a relationship she always makes sure that their star signs are compatible; she herself is a Capricorn, meaning that she’d be okay with dating a Pieces, Taurus, Virgo, Scorpio, or, of course, another Capricorn. Anyone else she would refuse to date no matter how much she liked them. Not that she’s likely to try and find a date, though; she doesn’t believe in love. However, she’s not opposed to making out with someone random at a party.
Despite her main interests being ‘creepy’ and her family life being less than perfect Eldora isn’t unhappy. She finds humour in even the most tragic situations, much to the annoyance of those around her. When she stops smiling or, heaven forbid, starts to frown it usually means that things just became very serious. Thanks to the near perpetual smile it’s rather hard to tell when she’s lying or exaggerating, which is unfortunate because she does both often. It’s very rare that she takes things seriously, unless she’s writing about them.
She likes to believe that she can play the violin. In truth, she’s only taken a couple of lessons and, thus, can only produce a few screeching notes. On the other hand it’s possible that’s what she’s going for; the screeches sound a lot like one a ghost may make and have even lured some out before. Because of this she takes her violin with her whenever convenient.
While no one could really call her smart it would be silly to call her dumb. Though she never went to school (the lights in the rooms were far too bright and the other children would of picked on her anyway) she did learn about things that interested her. While that was mainly things that her mother never wanted her to see, there were also ’good’ things she liked, namely maths and English. She occasionally tries to write stories on her computer using voice recognition software. She loves using purple prose, unsurprising considering how much she loves the colour.
Though Eldora is usually happy there is a sure fire way to make her sad; mentioning siblings. She had one, once, and it hurts her to talk about it. She sometimes tries to talk to him, sometimes without the aid of any of her usual apparatus, but sometimes she’ll break out the Ouija board (she hasn’t yet managed to contact him this way, which she sees as a good sign; only troubled spirits stay behind).
Eldora and food have an unusually (though usually healthy) relationship. She only eats when she’s hungry and then she’s far more likely to eat a salad than a microwave pizza. When she does eat something unhealthy it’s always because she’s done something well. Her attitude to food comes mostly from her mothers view on healthy eating (ie, that it was the only way to eat) though the fact she indulges occasionally comes from the fact her father would sometimes take her and her brother out for a treat. She has no idea how to cook, so she mostly eats raw foods or at restaurants. No matter how hungry she is she will not knowingly eat egg. She's allergic, and eating even the smallest amount can cause her pain, or to throw up.

[attr=class,apptitle]HISTORY
[attr=class,apptxt]She has no doubt that she was a disappointment. No parent wishes for an albino child. She doesn’t know the whole story surrounding her birth, but, that’s probably a good thing. From what she knows she was a burden since before she was born. Or, at least, that’s the way she chooses to tell the story.
Growing up wasn’t an easy thing. Her parents, both working two jobs, were very rarely around. Instead she was cared for by an old Yamask. The two quickly became friends, him telling her all about his past life (he had been a Shaman) and her, occasionally, wearing his mask to let him remember what it was like to have a human body. It was largely this that caused the young girls interest in the occult.
The time that she and her mother spent together was troubled. The two had radically different personalities, making it hard for them to find common ground. Still, she loved her mother and tried to do what she could to please her. When her mother was around she would sometimes play with the dolls she hated, or (struggle to) read the books about happy Ponyta, and wearing cute little pink sundresses. Even then most of the time she tried following the Yamask’s instructions for casting spells instead.
Thanks to her eye problems Eldora never went to an actual school. Instead Lucia simply gave her text books to read. Most of the things within the books bored her, so she simply didn’t read them much. Never having much ambition (after all, she didn’t like leaving the house of a day time) it didn’t really worry her.
When she was ten her mother discovered the reason behind her generally spooky behaviour was the Yamask. Predictably, she never saw the Pokemon again. Perhaps also predictable was the fact that it pushed Eldora to new heights in her behaviour, making up fake ‘curses’, sneaking out to buy the things that her mum detested, wearing darker clothes more and more frequently.
Then Adi was born.
She loved her brother, she really did, but she hated the way he was obviously the favourite. The family was finally financially stable, meaning that he got all the attention that she never did. Needless to say, as he got older she teased him at every term. While it may of appeared that they hated each other the truth was that they were fairly close. Eldora always thought that when they both grew up and moved into their own houses they would be the sort of siblings who were best friends.
When Adi started talking about the resistance Eldora merely laughed at him. She herself had considered Pokemon training - with Plasma, the legal way - but she hadn’t wanted to badly enough to follow through with it. It’s possible that he took his sisters teasing to heart because, soon enough, their father was helping him run away and join the resistance.
Eldora didn’t get to say goodbye when her mother kicked her father out. She wasn’t even sure that it actually happened until she realised that Grey wasn’t coming home. To her credit she didn’t kick up a fuss; she was too busy trying to find her brother. She wasn’t alone in searching. In fact, everyone she knew (which wasn’t many people) and a whole lot more were looking for Adi. Much to her dismay her mother wouldn’t let her break out the Ouija board to ask where he was. Well, not until the last day of the search. The board gave her the very ominous answer “doorstep”. And that’s where he was, in a body bag. Eldora very much blames her mother for Adi’s death; had she contacted the spirits sooner she could of saved him.
The two lived together for a couple of months, both giving each other the silent treatment. Eldora amped up everything her mother hated about her. Her room became filled with black roses, glass skulls, burning candles, religious symbols… a lot of things that she really put no faith in. She started going out to ‘creepy’ parties of a night, meaning that she made a lot of like-minded friends.
Lucia, for her part, didn’t seem to care too much. Sure, she would leave books about science around (everything you’re doing is nonsense) , a pretty pink umbrella (would it kill you to go out in the sun?) and things of that sort, though as time went on she seemed to be doing it less and less. By the time the passive aggressive war started to slow down on her end, Eldora was finally thinking of a career.
Clearly there wasn’t much she could do, given her lack of education, and even if there were things she could do, there wasn’t much she wanted to do. After a while she hatched a plan. Plasma was a large part of the reason her brother was dead. She could try and take Plasma down from the inside. She decided that she would join Plasma, find their weak spots, and report them to the resistance.
