NOVA ELVERA FUERST.
THE GRACEFUL POKEMON
- Nova has always been viewed as beautiful, though he would much rather he wasn’t. His facial features have always look acutely feminine, causing him a lot of trouble back in school when he was younger, but also winning him the best friend he's ever had. He could always change his looks, his shoulder length hair not helping at all. A platinum crown of straight blond hair, Nova's hair is routinely trimmed but always in his face. When he is hard at work, he will either create two braids and pull it back, or just pull it back without, the second typically done when he is in a rush. Since he is almost always seen at a skating rink, his nose and the tips of his ears are typically rosy, bright against his pale skin.
Eyes like sapphire, Nova takes after his father in eye color. However, the problem is that he doesn't know who his father is. His mother, with her green-gray eyes and beautiful top of platinum hair like his own, had dated many men within the time that Nova was born. It is because of her that Nova is the way he is, including when it comes down to his weight, not so much his height (which is 5'6"). His body is thin and lean, looking almost sickly in a way. Due to his thinness, he is almost always cold. That or it's from the ice rink. Regardless, he's hardly seen eating food, large quantities of it making him sick.
His cold body temperature has him wearing jackets and sweaters at all times, even in the warmest of weathers. Typically anything that has a cat of some sort on it, he has it or is going to be getting it, it doesn't matter. His favorite being a black jacket with leopard printing on the sleeves, even his phone's case matches the printing. His closet consists mainly of jackets and sweaters, t-shirts of all kinds of designs, but the one thing he has a multitude of is blank skinny jeans and black socks. Whenever he is walking down the street, he tends to keep the hood of his jacket up, to avoid being mistaken as a woman. He carries around a duffel bag most days, especially when heading out to the rink.
- QUICK THINKING
- POOR JUDGE
|Since he got his first friend - which was during high school - he has always been loyal to the ones he cares for most. He always has their backs and would never do anything to betray their trust. As well, he is protective of them. If you say anything about them, your going to get an uppercut to the jaw. If you make them cry, you better run cause he's coming after you. And if the person is Don, you can expect much, much worse from him because it makes you a dead man. |
A quick thinker, Nova is able to change up the game whenever he needs to. Whether it is on the ice or in a battle, he can change the direction of something as quickly as it started, affecting the outcome to what would be better for himself (or ... everyone if you want to believe he cares that much). As well, he is generous, always giving to the needy. Not the needy humans, he's not well equipped to handle people outside his friend group. No, he is generous to Pokemon specifically, feeding them whenever seeing them. If he is passing by a food stand and finds Pokemon huddled around it, he'll buy food from the stand and give it to them instead.
He's a hard worker, part of the reason that he is so generous to those Pokemon he feeds. Skating has certainly paid its way for him, with more money than he knows what to do with. He always has the money to pay for their food, his food, and probably the food of others as well. However, he can't do that last bit because of his impulsive behavior. Any time he spots a new item for sale in a store window, he runs for it, especially when it has some sort of cat Pokemon on it. He pulls it off the rack quickly, throws the money at the cashier and has it stuffed into his closet or thrown on him quicker than most people. If you judge him for it, watch out.
Nova is aggressive, as one can probably tell. Growing up looking like a girl his whole life gave him the icy temper that he holds now. Whether it be someone accidentally doing something or some shouting vulgar things at him, no one is excused from his attitude. Speaking of vulgar things: he is extremely vulgar when brought to his limit. He's dealt with too many cat callers and passer by's whistling at him in misunderstanding to not be, often shouting back or flipping them off. When they realize that he is a girl, they shout out in disgust or walk away in embarrassment but not before he takes the vulgarity up a notch.
He's always been a poor judge of character and this may be due to his mother's behavior around him. He will not trust you, even the sweetest of people and keeps a close eye on those who he thinks might harm him or his friends. However, it could be someone with the best intentions in mind, an innocent. Yet, he is extremely unapologetic of it, even if it was his fault the whole time. He was never taught to be polite or how to be a good person and own up for his actions, he was never able to.
- His mother was a well known girl, and not in the good way. Every afternoon, she would leave alone and every morning, she would come home. Her parent's paid for everything she needed all the way from Kanto: her property taxes, her credit card bills, they'd even wire her money over to buy food in the home (though it was rarely used for such things). She brought many men into her home, had many nights with them, many of them blue eyes. Almost everyday there was someone new to warm her bed at night and fill her pockets with a little extra cash. It wasn't until she got pregnant that everything changed for her.
No one said that her life changed for the better - it was far from that and wouldn't be so for many years after. She didn't tell anyone about the child that she was having outside of those who saw her walking around. She couldn't determine who the father of her child was and didn't care to find out, well equipped with money to not really want him in their lives. Never did she think about her child though, not in the way that mother's might (whom she hoped would be a girl). She had picked out her daughter's name and bought all the cute outfits, sure, but in the end it wasn't enough for her to love the son she had in winter. Refusing to believe that the child was hers, she went home almost hating him. Call it mother nature - she did care for him for a moment - but inside, she hated him in a way that wasn't usual. Postpartum came late for her and Nova was the victim of it just as much as she was.
As Nova grew older, his mother became less motherly. She stopped going out and didn't bring men home for a while, not until Nova was six and could function mostly on his own. When he was two, her method of discipline was either ignoring him, hitting him, or starving him. In his own way, Nova loved his mother despite what she did to him because he understood that she was sick and needed help. His poor judge of character started with his mother and it never stopped.
Eventually, she was able to be his mother for a second to enroll him in school. The educators spoke about her in a way that was odd to Nova, but he was able to eat in a place where he didn't have to wonder what was and what wasn't in his food. Despite the safety of it, he couldn't eat much of it, feeling sick whenever he did or having stomach cramps directly after. The first day that he had noticed this, he had been taken to the nurses office to lay down for the rest of his class until he felt better again.
As the years passed, Nova's mother grew steadily better. Mostly it was due to his grandparents visiting for the first time since he was born and finding the conditions of the house to be less than appropriate for a child his age. He was eight when his mother began going to therapy sessions and eventually they moved their home to another region, his mother finding a job working at a local skating rink within the inner city. With his grandparents going back to their own home once his mother was better, Nova went back to caring for himself. Though his mother did try her best to be a good to him, there were several things that did in an awkward manner, like eating dinner together with her son. When Nova got out of school, he would walk to the skate rink and wait for his mother to finish, watching the skaters glide across the ice.
He became obsessed with the skaters, watching them everyday after school with awe and fascination. When the instructor noticed that he was always there and asked other workers about him, she offered his mother the chance to teach him. She could pay off his lessons in extra hours at work and - in an attempt to be a better mother that she had ever been - she eagerly obliged.
At first, Nova was horrible at it, the ten year old boy falling over many times until he could glide across without so much as a wobble. Though he had started out horribly, he was a quick learner, and it was suggested that he partake in tournaments. So everyday after school, he would skate till his mother was free from work and would repeat the next day after having dinner and going to bed. He won many medals and trophies, those of which he would give to his mother as if to say 'thank you', and became something of a well known figure in the ice skating community. Living where he did didn't make it any better and going to school made it even worse. He hated crowds and people paying him any attention, something he would practice when his mother was sick. When he began high school, the attention became a form of bullying by the male students. His fair complexion and delicate body brought them down on him, asking him rude questions about whether he was a girl and other ... similar things. Then one day, the attention was distracted to a different person, one they were teasing, asking if she were a boy.
"Are you blind or stupid? She is clearly a girl."
He'd been sent to the principle office that day for provoking a fight and sent home with a suspension for cursing at the principle. It did give him the extra few days of doing nothing but skating, one day spotting the same girl from his class watching him. She wasn't coming to thank him, only coming to declare that she - Seraphina Byrne (who much preferred Donovan or Don) - was now his new best friend and vice versa. Nova had been taken off guard at first, never having had a friend before. The two did everything together though and were a perfect match. Both were often thought to be the opposite gender, both loved to skate, and both didn't take anyone's shit.
They would spend time together every day: when Nova wasn't busy with the ice rink, he'd head down to the skate park and watch Don from the sidelines as she did her thing. When Don wasn't at the skate park, she'd watch Nova at the rink. Nova would even drag her around shopping with him and buy her whatever she wanted, money never an issue. He was there for her when her father rejected her, threatening to kill him if she wanted him to - jokingly of course.
As time moved on, Nova began seeing someone. The two of them were not a good pair together. He insisted that Nova move into his apartment; talked to him like he was trash and to which Nova added onto, causing a major argument each time. He could blame it on his mother's bedroom habits from when he was a child, he supposed. But in truth, it was just that he had always been, and continued to be, a terrible judge of character. So when his boyfriend kicked him out and Don came to him about how she was moving to Anrui, Nova said f' it. He decided that he would do the same thing, packing his things and boarding a ship just a week after Don.
Now, he stands before the building that will give him a job he never really thought he would have had before. Hope whoever is inside is ready for the hurricane about to approach them.
