AMALIA MARIE BLACKTHORN.
THE ROAMING POKEMON
- Emma (explained later on) is quite average in facial features, with a slightly rounded face as well as normal sized ears and nose. If anything is a little off about her facial features, it is her wide eyes, the definition of 'puppy dog eyes'. They are one of her most attractive features - a oceanic blue color and deep like the sea. Often times, they pop out more when she applies mascara. Her mouth is a thin line, not plump like those girls she once went to school with. Above her is a mess of light brown hair, often times falling down and around her shoulders, usually flying around during windy days. Her hair reaches down to the middle of her slender back.
Her skin is tanned, delicate, smooth and not without some blemishes. A majority of these are temporary; bruises and scratches from scuffles or climbing. However, some of these scratches were deep enough to leave light scars, so it is not uncommon to see her looking as if she had been attacked. Body-wise, she is thin and light, weighing at 109 pounds and standing at 5'5" - slender and hardly curvy. Her nails are almost always done up in colors, a slight point to them.
Clothing for Emma is a strange collection. Often times, she dresses like the tom boy she appears to be. Typically an array of denim shorts barely covers her legs, and though the shirt underneath may change, the red and black jacket over top of it is always the same (having once belonged to her brother). Other times, she dresses up in different types of dresses and skirts when needed, or when the day is extremely nice and she has nothing better to do. Her shoes typically change based on the outfit as well, but if she isn't in a dress, it's always gonna be a pair of converse style shoes on her feet. Slung on her back is a fashionable, leather drawstring backpack, sitting lower than her mid-back and held by thin straps. Personally, she does not wear jewelry (unless she has to), but she does own a silver band on a chain around her neck, one of the only physical memories of her brother that she was allowed to have after his death.
- PATHOLOGICAL LIAR
|Emma can be adventurous wherever she goes, never able to sit in one spot for too long. Even as a small child, she would follow her brother around wherever he went without a single question about it. Perhaps this was the reasoning she had for following him into joining the Resistance. It is a good thing that she is also practically fearless, the only thing getting to her being death (or the possibility of it). She loves to fly, sky dive, and doesn’t think twice about helping others when it comes down to illegal things. |
Never having to need someone to make things easier for her, Emma has always been much more independent than she should actually be. When she hit fourteen, she started doing under the table work and eventually made her way to a paycheck job. She wanted to help out her parents, while also giving out donations to the Resistance (not openly of course). This independence has caused her to be as well-mannered as she can possibly be, needing it for that customer service at work. Due to this, many customers and co-workers believe her to be a sweet thing, always smiling and helping others. However, they are only partially accurate.
Speaking of helping out others, she is always motivated into doing things, keeping herself busy and fills up her schedule as much as possible. The only time she stops moving is to sleep and the second she is up and eats her breakfast, she is on the move again. She takes up missions and will stop on the side of the road to help others simply to keep her mind off of doing absolutely nothing. She fears of becoming a couched potato. Training her Pokemon is a team effort, including her own energy being used. However, the one thing that she cannot be motivated to do is keep her area and things tidy. Her bag is a mess, as if a burrowing Pokemon came through and decided to tear apart her bag. As she doesn't keep it neat, fighting can be a difficult process, where she is spending more time looking for a potion than she is actually healing her Pokemon. If she has time before a fight, she will pull out everything that she may possibly need, just in case. However, it can give her opponent the upper hand in knowing just what she has to work with.
At times, Emma can be a little bit harsh to others, especially when they get on her nerves. If you are pointing out the obvious, she will point it out in the most polite way she can possibly manage, many not realizing that she is dripping her words in a sour way. She also has a tendency of being selfish, mostly when it comes to platonic relationships (as she practices polyamory). Perhaps it was because her brother was killed when she was younger, but if she can get someone to bend to her will, she will do it without a second thought. She may be trying to do this to keep them safe, but it is certainly not a healthy thing she should be doing.
Resentful is a good way to describe how she feels about the people who surrounded her brother's death. He died young - too young - and she absolutely hates everything about it. She sometimes spends her time looking into who may or may not have played a part in his death, letting it eat up a majority of her time, rather than just allowing herself to heal from it completely. As a direct result, she is rather closed minded about people who come from Team Plasma, even if they are simply there for reasons not their own. However, she is trying to work on this after recent events that have happened in her life.
- Emma's life was always easy for her, despite the rough start that she had in the beginning of it. She was never related to Ben and Jodie, the only parents she had ever known, but she was always accepting of the fact that they had raised her since she was two years old. Her biological parents had been killed during the purge of Anrui and she was tossed into the Orphanage for a few months until Ben and Jodie had come buy looking for another addition to their growing family. Their son, who had also been adopted when he was young, was not impressed by the toddler. Yet, he was the only one who could make her smile brighter than anyone else and soon he became close to her - the definition of a protective, older brother.
Lukas was seven years older than her, but it didn't stop him from dragging her around everywhere he went or from her following him when she wasn't suppose to be. The two were inseparable and Emma found herself a love for adventure, becoming fearless of the world around her. He would call her pet names, such as Ama or Lia, and during her older years she scorned anyone that called her those names. School was hard for her to start, not wanting to be separated from Lukas, the first week filled with temper tantrums and fits. Yet, when the normality of seeing him afterwards sunk into her brain, she became more relaxed about it and would always find him waiting for her to get out of class.
As she got older, she ended up getting her own group of friends in school, similar to her brother. Though she still wanted to spend more time with him, they less frequently hung out after school (though they would regularly watch movies before bed and build forts from cushions and pillows in the living room). Her new friends at school had a hard time pronouncing her name, calling her Emma instead of Amalia, and the name stuck to her: "It's Amalia, but everyone just calls me Emma."
She wasn't very popular in school; the boys would pull her hair teasingly or make fun of her for always being covered in scratches and dirt. She remembers very distinctly that the moment Lukas had heard about this, he picked her up from school and gave them a threatening glare. It had worked for a moment, until she had hit puberty at around eleven and the boys found new things to tease her about, along with some of the more full and curvy girls. With her brother having recently joined the Resistance, she already had plans in mind to escape school and run off to join them instead. She didn't have to stay in the school, though Lukas would argue otherwise. None of that meant anything to her when she turned thirteen and heard the news about her brother: Lukas was dead.
She couldn't remember exactly what had happened that day. She was at school when she had been pulled out of class without any explanation, had gone to a hospital to I.D his body. She fought to go in and see him for herself, the doctor refusing due to how gruesome the body had been. The only thing she was allowed to have for confirmation that it had been him was his red and black jacket and a silver band - a wedding ring with the engraving With All My Heart on the inner material. She had remembered seeing the ring before and when her parents explained to her what Lukas had been doing, everything clicked into place inside her mind.
It was like a completely different person had taken the shape of her brother in their explanation. Lukas, falling in love with a Plasma member, dating for two years. Two years of a Lukas that she didn't even know about. Everything within her began to hate Plasma more than ever, most of her hatred fueled at this Riley Arrington that had caused the death of her brother. In her mind, she told herself that there must have been something that Riley did to trick her brother. As the whole family dealt with the death of Lukas, her parents rallied to the Resistance cause and Emma spent a week in mourning, hardly touching her food and wearing only black clothing, the silver ring hanging from her neck as a reminder to what she lost.
As the years passed, Emma spent most of her time looking into the events surrounding Plasma and learning how to fight. She had never been good at it before hand, and she was even worse when given instructions. Still, she kept her head up and stayed determined to win. On the side, she would work at restaurants and hotels, starting with under the table work to a paycheck every week. She would donate to those at the resistance, would help her parents with their bills, and the rest would go to her fighting lessons.
She did little else than that for those years. Just roughly before hitting nineteen, she headed up to one of the Resistance bases so that she could start some work there before getting her starter Pokemon. When she heard the news that a Riley Arrington had been captured, her heart beat fast in her chest and she felt as if she couldn't breath. The reason for her brother's death was within her grasp. She could kill him, get her revenge for what he did. But when she listened in on the conversation between him and the Resistance brother who was holding him up in one of the rooms, Emma's plan to kill Riley faltered. When she was asked to take new clothes to the room for the man who had created her hate, she spotted the scars on his back. When she asked him what had happened, he told her, "I loved one of your people and I paid the price for it." And then, quietly: "I wish it had been me instead." Emma had left in a hurry, tears beginning to spill from her eyes as she moved away into the hall and farther down.
Her thoughts kept her awake all night for several days, thinking of what the right thing to do was. What Lukas would want? She didn't know what got her to her feet, what pushed her forward and had her sneaking through the base, taking her to the room with the Pokemon that were taken from Plasma trainers, grabbing some clothes in the process and a large backpack that she stuck them into. She waited till she spotted Ashton walking out from the room, the door locking from the outside. As quickly as possible, she set the bag down next to the door and cracked the door open loudly. She hid around the corner again, watching and waiting but Riley took no time to check the hall, realize what was happening, and leave the base. She returned to her room afterwards and in the morning, she heard the commotion of those who were angered that Riley had escaped, some of them blaming Ashton for the results. She simply yawned off the situation and went to pack her bags, her time at the base over and began heading to the lab to receive her new Pokemon and start her journey.
